this is my first time stumbling on this term compulsory heterosexuality and i think it resonates a lot with my experience in a conservative environment where men and women live in distinct hemispheres and do not share any meaningful relationship other than romantic/sexual one. in addition a lot of them have one inseparable friend with whom they live and spend the whole day with ( they even get really intimate with each other especially among girls) despite that they always deny any romantic feelings towards each other even when i ask about it jokingly.

The ContraPoints YT channel episode "Twilight" (on the _Twilight_ novels) features a theory of Default Heterosexual Sadomasochism (DHSM), covered in Part 6: Identity.

I’ve never heard of this. Really interesting introduction. Thanks!

Always helpful when a video encourages one to get out a work that has been on one’s To Be Read list forever…A longer discussion might have covered where this work stands in comparison to the landmark texts – Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex, 1949 and Judith Butler's Gender Trouble, 1990. Somewhat overshadowed maybe?
Perhaps from the vantage of 2024 we might wish to ask some difficult questions: is it conceivable that we could ever escape from some form of majority norm – even thought this might change over time and location? Furthermore, is it tenable to consider minority identities as exempt from norms and power dynamics of their own? I'm sceptical of notions of alternative, pure spaces free from oppressive power. But I'm now off to order Rich!

Did you ever consider sending this nonsense over to the people you claim to support in palestine? How do you think it (and you) would be recieved?😂🤡

This entire assertion is predicated on the idea that orientation isn't biological, which it is.

Also, lesbian couples are the most likely to suffer from DV. BW are the least likely to date IR, and you mention patriarchy and WM despite the fact that WM are actually some of the least patriarchal men globally.

Highly doubt there is a *click* in the heads of students when the norm is compulsory homosexuality and queerness in today’s universities and the creative industry
