Damn. Nintendo is on a roll.
First Yuzu and now Ryujinx huh.

Edit: i wonder why they won't go after Eggns. That emulator has paywall in it. If you don't buy their controller, you won't be able to use the emulator.

Wait so if you make a nintendo emulator and they can't sue you they will pay you to take it down? Time to make more nintendo emulators while making sure everything is legal so you can get that sweet sweet payout for shutting it down.

Eventually there will be more switch emu than ever, especially after switch 2 comes out. It always happens with older systems.
Whenever a government bans something, they just drive it underground and make it more popular.
Nintendo effectively Banning legal emulation will only make it more popular, and force more devs out of the woodwork.
Sony and Microsoft aren't this but-hurt about emulation, yet their games and systems are better quality and more advanced.
as much as I like Nintendo, I'm quite sure their stance will backfire on them in the long run.
If they made PC versions of their games, a lot of this would go away.

Vì Nintendo chưa có mặt chính thức tại Việt Nam, nếu có một trình giả lập tương tự Ryujinx hoạt động tại Việt Nam, họ rất khó thắng kiện.

The major incentive for Nintendo to eliminate all Switch emulators before the Switch2 is released, is because the primary draw to Switch emulators is to be able to play Switch games on a more powerful system with better graphics, framerates and responsiveness, and they would be in competition with the Switch 2 for this functionality.

Nintendo has already slowly been going after the emulators by adding their legacy games to Nintendo Online for an extra cost.

I don't think Nintendo cares too much about the hardcore hacker communities, because there is only a small percentage of people who are going to go to the effort (and risk) to emulate games for free when Nintendo is offering the same stuff for a reasonable cost (albeit sub-par emulation features as compared to what is typically available from the emulation community).

What I think is happening now is that Nintendo is going to pull out all the stops and make sure that their own console's ability to play legacy games is at least as good as the other emulators, if not better.

For all we know, they're offered GDKChan a career with a signing bonus, rather than just a payout. He's proven himself as a skilled emulator developer, and done so without appearing to have a connection to the piracy "ROMZ" community.

The ninjas are real. The lawsuits are real. Would you roll the dice against Nintendo?

Nintendo is stuck in the past.
Proprietary software is so 90s.
The pirate scene has all but dried up, and Nintendo is helping to keep it alive.

No, like any other gaming companies, they hate pirates

After the ps5 pro's price reveal I don't want to hear complaining about Nintendo's in comparison especially if they decided to preorder a pro despite the absurd price tag. For a 700 dollar console you can easily get an old console and at least ten games for the same price. My stance on emulation is that if a person has bought a copy of a game first before doing it I have no issue, if your trying to avoid paying the price by doing it or trying to make a profit off it. Then you ARE stealing and should'nt be suprised when you face consequences for it.

I hope the Switch 2 is as hard to pirate as a PS4 or 5 specially with it's specs.
Because it was honestly baffling how in less than a year released there were already two emulators online.
Meanwhile we're waiting for the PS4 one.

I'm not sure that Nintendo is truly afraid that a Switch-2 emulator is going to pop up in the first week because it took years for a Switch emulators to become fully functional (the typical timeline for the emulation community to emulate a new system successfully is around three years).

Also, emulators have not been show to have a significant impact on console sales -- the main reason being is that you need a fairly high end (i.e. expensive) computer system to properly emulate a modern console. If you can buy a Switch-Lite for $200, why would you pay $2000 for a computer just to emulate it?

Switch emulation has now gotten to the point where most current computer systems with a half decent graphics card are capable of emulating a Switch at least as well as a real switch, and can play most popular titles, without requiring a lot of computer hacking savviness. You don't need to have or modify an existing Switch to dump ROMs, as ROMs are easy to find, you just download a zip, unzip it, download a ROM, unzip it, and run the emulator and you're off to the races in minutes. It took seven years to get here.

I'm expecting that the Switch2 is going to be extra, extra resilient to emulation.

I don't don't care if you emulate, what I do hate is the self righteousness people have about emulation

Can you still emulate old Nintendo Games like GameCube and Wii?

I love how the order of letters in words somehow does not provide enough information for some people to decipher. edit: When the same person presents what's obviously hearsay as facts, it starts to add up.
