Jim had to make the right decision because i still play ps3 and vita and if they had still gone ahead and shut down the store it would be like buying a car without an engine and if the ps3 store was to close it would be basically a brick nothing to do on it maybe if jim focused on bc on ps5 all these games can be played on the newer console as an example ps4 is bc i brought a game that was on ps2 and i brought it on ps4 and it plays so basically sony misleading again on bc

I'm excited the store is staying up. I've been methodically crashing my way through it to get every game and DLC I'm interested in, made it about halfway in the search bar so far (All Games does not, in fact, show all games) but don't intend to stop.

I was mostly angry that we got such short notice. Now that it has been reversed it serves as our early warning. It's only a matter of time still, but now we can properly, affordably prepare.

I have been playing PS3 games consistently over the last year anyway (Battleship, Haze, Heavenly Sword, Arkham Origins, CoD campaigns, Remember Me, the Ratchet series, LBP2, a bunch of PS2, PSP and PS1 games).

But now is the time to go back and play all the games in my backlog that I've missed (for me this shamefully includes Red Dead*. Also Rain, Heavy Rain (Move edition with exclusive DLC), LBP Karting, HAWX, PS All Stars, PS Move Heroes, The Fight, Crisis Core, Coded Arms, The Shoot, the Sly Quadrilogy, the Splinter Cell Trilogy, the entire Tomb Raider series, Lair, Genji, Fracture, Puppeteer, Stranglehold, Motorstorm Apocalypse, and many, many more).

And I'm excited to replay my old favourites like Ratchet, Resistance, Killzone, Enslaved with DLC I never had, and El Shaddai.

Apologies for the long comment, but I am someone who does regularly play my backlog. I feel I have more time because I don't bother with time sink live service garbage. And I figured its worth highlighting just how much history there is that was about to be lost forever, or at least made difficult or expensive to legally, easily access; DLC especially. It's a big deal when you consider all the games and entire series I didn't mention.

*also I never played any of the MGS series but I figured anyone who reads this far is probably too exhausted to be angry at me :D

Im definately in the camp of 'concentrate on the new stuff'. Ill still play a ps4 title occasionally, but im simply not interested in proper availability of anything prior to this.

I already have an archive of every single games title ever made for all machines up to ps2, and im starting to add backed up ps3 images to this. I may not want to fully play these titles any more, but I DO want them preserved and see it as my duty to do so.
In an age of digital media, we cannot expect the distributor to make these available for all time, anymore than i can expect sega to still sell me megadrive cartridges. If we enjoy this media so much we wish to preserve this, the onus is on us to do so, and fortunately there are many dedicated people archiving collections and developing emulation exactly so we can do this.
The only people who bang on about backwards compatibility are those who somehow see microsofts stratagey for back compatability as an advantage, rather than the smoke and mirrors it is to disguise the zero games they have to bring to market. Its no suprise the net can be so effectively 'steered', its a method not just used by 'foreign powers' and MS have a history of paying people to post and poke in the right places to affect influencing stories. The net is like a bunch of trained seals, throw em a fish and watch them honk and clap their flippers.

I think being able to buy PS3 and ps2 games on the ps5 store would be dope. And then play them backwards compatibly and earn some extra platinum trophies.

Im very suprised that no one talks about the ps4 communitys beeing closed if they hade waited out the covid 19 then it would be ok but many are at home and want a place they can talk to friends and make friends to play with. Im sad they did closed it down.
