A young man brought down the house when tears streaming down his face said, "That's my dad. That's my dad. " How beautiful. Thank you Gus, for making this Convention memorable.

I’m tearfully clapping for my Dad and I’m 79. He was a real man. He was loving and tender hearted. Caring for the comrades he commanded in WW2, helping his platoon to deactivate mines during a break out from the Germans, even though it was not their job. After he died age 89, his army friends came and told us of his acts of loyalty and courage. He always helped our mother look after the four of us and read us stories at bedtime. He protected us all the time. When young men came to his business and asked him for work, he would sometimes take on what WE thought was an unlikely employee. He trained them and helped them. He always used to say “with positive thoughts, you will do positive things”. He loved reading us poems; “If” by Rudyard Kipling and “The Man from Snowy River” by Banjo Patterson. I miss my Dad, he was the best.. (he also sympathised when I told him I had backed his car into something!) 😁🩷

Good for you Gus. There is nothing wrong with being proud of your Dad. I saw him address the crowd in Pennsylvania when he first spoke to us all as the VP nominee. I was proud of him too, and I shed a few tears being so thankful that someone of such good standing would be prepared to stand up and represent us all. I'm 66 years old. Continue to be proud Gus. You are in excellent company. We're not going back and your Dad is going to help us all get to a better place!

I’ve always resented the notion that the Republican Party called themselves the party of family values. It’s always been the opposite.

I knew nothing about Gus. I just thought the family is emotionally healthy. Gus is as comfortable with his emotions as his dad.

Sadly, the darkness of hatred has caused the lights to shut off on human decency and kindness in many men (and women) these days. It's tragic to witness and was shown up by the pure love this young man has for his dad. It was a touching, real display of love.

Nobody should be mocking anybody’s teenage child, period! It doesn’t matter that Gus has a diagnosis that was flat out wrong and cruel. Especially from a nationally known person with a large following who uses it to bully a child. Her apology was useless. The damage was done.
