Just to let everyone know I was 10% when I joined the department of defense that was in 2018 it is now 2023 and I have been awarded to 100% disability rating. I turned that documentation into my HR and asked them. Is there any type of special leave that I am available to use now due to the fact that I am 100% they responded back to me in an email by saying 104 hours has been put into your leave balances for DVL leave disabled veterans leave so I guess you can get it by not just being a newly hired employee because they clearly knew I’ve been with the company since 2018, but since I received my rating later they gave me 104 hours I ain’t complaining

I work for the Department of Treasury I started in 2016. The OPM states that "Under the Wounded Warriors Federal Leave Act of 2015 (Public Law 114-75, November 5, 2015), an employee hired on or after November 5, 2016, who is a veteran with a service-connected disability rating of 30 percent or more from the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) of the Department of Veterans Affairs is entitled to up to 104 hours of disabled veteran leave for the purposes of undergoing medical treatment for such disability."

The government only let's you use it once and don't tell you about this benefit. I was overseas and was told it was only to go to the States and expired after one year. HR was very bad about this process. I lost most of my time.

I recently got disability from VA at 10 percent and trying to get more I'm deserved but getting shot down or still trying. But I hired in Gov. I think having to be 30 percent is a let down too. I believe long as you have a service connected disability you should able to use that for those appointments. And another thing is you have only 1 year to use it. Your first year of employment only if im correct. This is just so wrong. Here were I work with the gov. And might be at other places to I just haven't looked but they have a leave benefit for getting pregnant and having a child for both wife and husband if both employed in the amount of 390 hrs or 400. I don't know all the specifics on this so I will look I'm just estimating. And I believe you can use this every year. Now this being said is a slap in the face to the disabled veterans working with the government!

I was hired in May 2016 with a state run rail road. I got an increase from 30 to 80 in April 2024. Would I qualify?

I was hired in 2012 as an AF Civilian. I got a job in Germany as an AF Civ in 2018. I got my disability rating of 70% in 2022. Do I qualify? Does my move to Germany count as "hired" even though I was already an AF Civ?
