I plan to do something like this in my next house build, with an addition of putting a dado lengthwise on the vertical boards so I can run the shades in the gap for a total blackout setup in the bedroom. Definitely borrowing this idea as a foundation for that!

That looks so clean! I've been thinking of doing a shadow bead detail but I love seeing how other people go casing-less. Great craftsmanship with both the mudding and trim work!

A note about the video editing, I found I had to turn the volume up to hear you talking but then it was obnoxiously loud any time there was music or workshop noises.
