Will nursing affect the results on an ovulation test or my ability to conceive?

You mentioned that you have a 10 1/2 month old baby, but you're wanting to try for another one, and you've been using ovulation prediction kits and not getting any positive results. You're still nursing, and wondering if that has any affect on your ability to conceive. It definitely might, because the hormones of breastfeeding do, in theory, suppress ovulation. With that said, when a woman's period returns after the birth of her baby, even while she's nursing, a lot of times, the body will return to a fertile state slowly, so even though you're having regular periods, you may not be ovulating. So this might be the case with you. It depends on how long your cycles have been regular. And so I do recommend talking with your doctor, because after spending some more time with you and asking you more specific one-on-one questions, they'll be able to decide what would be best for your situation.
