Downloading Apple iCloud Images - Troubleshooting 2 - How to get your shooting date info to display

This video shows how using a third-party app (for Mac using A Better Finder Attributes 6) you can get the original shooting date information (EXIF information) to display in the folder structure under Modified Date.

I've never used the Apple Photos app to organize my photos; I could never understand the folder structure and I hated having to open an app to copy or send photos.

I prefer organizing by year and shooting date and keeping it out of what used to be iPhoto. As it is, the original shooting date (and time) is a great organizing information that's lost to the Apple OS default folder structure when you download from storage services services such as iCloud or Dropbox as the modified date becomes the date you downloaded files.

Thank you for the video, pal. It is really frustrating trying to download photos with a complicated way, because Apple is so stupid not to fix this issue by now. I am organising my photos by date and gps info. iPhone photos cannot be renamed with date stamp instead of numbers and loose all their gps info when downloaded to pc. The problem remains throughout the years and Apple does nothing for this! I will return to Android smartphones which do this in the most easy and efficient way.

that app doesn't exist. not under that name anyways. I've been copying photos for the past 4 years onto harddrives as HEC files. Am I going to be screwed in the future or something? Do I have to convert all those to jpegs?

Why they make icloud so not user friendly?

I have 2tb icloud full with 1tb of photos, why can I just conect my HD external and simply download all at once?

1000 photos per time is ridiculous.

Why not make clouds communicating easier icloud and Dropbox
