Its because galvy lag screws and bolts are made with a low grade steel, and ledgerlok, timberlok, etc are made with a higher grade steel, comparable to something like a grade 8 bolt, but with a coating

I put some adhesive on the threads.
Threads are so coarse that air gets in there and drys out and 5-10 years you can just pull them out with a vise grips
