Bravo, You are our representative! Selling at $80, the case must be provided with a better cable. I think for the products of $150 +, the interchangeable plug termination is a must as well. S12 pro, Z12 pro, wuzetian, hook x provided to us with this new standard . I can not believe that Talos comes with only 3.5mm.

Very articulate and practical review compared with other reviewers who stick with the graphs too much. I'm binge watching ur iem reviews.

Looks like planar is no different from DD, size does matter. No matter what experience KZ learned from its sister company CCA, they still can’t get the tuning right.

If you add a nice custom cable for 20-30 bucks (KBear, Openheart or others), the PR1 is still a very good deal as it comes with a metal shell and robust QDC-connectors. So not much to complain here but the uninspired technical design.

Planar sound is what it is, a pretty good compromise so far. Some say, you get the same driver as the S12 and other planar IEMs has today and nobody proved the opposit so far ;)

I bet you get it on par to the S12 when customized (EQ, filters), and for what I can tell, all planars (actually all IEMs) have more potential than the factory tunings if correct adapted to the individual users ear geometry and a meaningful frequency curve.
Well, it isn't that easy to shape the sound of a planar mechanically over 5k as it is with DD or BA caused by the more compact built inside compared to the much wider area of the planar design with it's time imperfections.

On the other hand, planars got enough energy way out 10k and smoothing peaks a bit, so it's easy to adjust with EQ. They got planary intermodulation distortions thats IMHO nicer sounding when it comes to women voices and hights, but fails a bit when it comes to 'accurate staging'.

Yes, planars got a bit of a 'crackling foil' sound that will leave over time if you get used to and learn, that DDs and BAs got their own systematic coloration that isn't perfect, either. If you listen to big planar loudspeakers in any pricerange, there is the foil rastle evident next to the emotional audio sensation :)

A hybrid cable with balanced jack might improve the tuning....
