Planar Bass to your face~!!! KZ PR1 PRO

As usual, I bought this with my own money. This is the follow-up version of the PR1 and PR1 Hifi. Lesser bass than the previous models, previous model's bass was monstrous and too V shape for me.

First of all, this set don't have the usual planar zing/spiciness (Refer to S12 for that). I have forgotten to mention some points in the video. Other than the significant amount of bass, it does make the iem sound thick but not muddy. I don't think any planar driver can sound muddy, unless it is tuned very badly. Male vocal sounded rich and lush here, which I really do appreciate.

Mids is recessed. How I miss mids like Penon, Xenns, and Thieaudio's mids in every IEM, but I guess every company has their tuning philosophy. Instrument and some vocal do step a little backward, therefore I dont recommend this for vocal-ish songs. EDM, Hip Hop would perform better.

The official and the community has confirmed that the treble is brought down by a tad. I don't have any issue with busy track such as JPOP. Long term listening is definitely possible. Despite the well extended treble, I dont find the detail retrieval to perform as good. It is just average detail retrieval compare to the like of Dioko.

Overall, a safe V shape fun planar IEM. For you guys out there that wanted a bassy iem, a speedy one especially, give this KZ PR1 Pro a try~!!

Good review. I can confirm the way to retune this thing....

1. Drill a little bit more the port facing the dampener....beware, it's very sensitive, and you will see the bass recessed, but at the same time the highs and mid highs will become boosted, so be careful, it can become fatiguing.
2. Some aspects of the 8.000 Hz + area can be tamed by either adding some foam in the tip itself, or if removing the nozzle dampener, by insertion of a bigger chunk of foam with or without some other dampener on it.

Results in good or bad ways can be incredibly different from the original tuning. Bleeding bass can be cleaned off, with the interesting possibility or a quite present sub bass.
For adjusting the famous port hole size, I was first drilling it very big, at 1.5 mm, then applying on it either a dampener, either a piece of vinyl tape where I punch very small hole(s) with a heated needle tip. This way, you can go backwards....

Good luck guys, tuning it is a funny journey.

Dude this is not even close to v shape.
It has bass but it's not v shape, it's close to neutral.
