Topping DX3 Pro+ Review - Feature Packed

Hello everybody, here's my long-term review of the Topping DX3 Pro+!

Correcting some of the information in my video, the DX3 Pro+ actually outputs 1.8w through single ended at 32 ohms and is using topping’s new NFCA amplifier tech.

Someone may have mentioned this but the Bluetooth is receiving only so it is not for broadcasting to headphones it is for receiving signal from cell phone or tablet etc. Thanks again for doing the review.

To help others. It is not clear in the directions on how to get this DAC into setup mode/menu. You unplug it. Hold the volume button in and while doing so, plug it in. The setup menu is the only place to select DAC mode, fixed volume m-d mode.

great video, one question if i may, so the device has 3.5 input rather then the typical 6.3 now i know you can buy 6.3 to 3.5 adapter to use your 6.3 headphone, the question is does the adapter effect anything? compare the normal use of native 6.3 on other dac\amp

I have the zen DAC v2 powering some LCD2Cs and really like it. But tempted to try this “brighter” sounding dac/amp.
How much bass did you lose switching to the topping?

dang nice review, I feel like this is the review I needed before I bought it. Ive been loving it though. things sound noticeably crisper on my meze 109 pros then my MacBook Pro intrigated amp.

Great review! Planing to buy either this or the Zen Dac v2. The sound signature im looking for is mostly for movies (emphasis on dialogues, soundtracks, imersion, also sound stage) and some alternative rock bands. Which of these two do you think would be a better fit for my preferenes?

Nice review. I've always like "clinical", but at this point, I'm not so sure. At 32 ohms and high gain, ASR measured the power output of the DX3 Pro+ at 1.5 watts. He also found that it clipped at 32 and 50 ohms, and went into protection mode at 20 ohms. But today in the comments of the review, someone reports that Topping has released a firmware upgrade that takes care of the problem:

"What's updated: Fixed an issue where the built-in amp overload protection was too sensitive to prompt "HP ERR" under certain circumstances".

Have you tried the dx3 with a Sundara by any chance and do you recommend it?
Also, Im currently using a pair of Moondrop Aria’s. Am I going to hear any difference if I will plug them into the dx3?
or I will be better just plugging them into my PC Mother Board?

Genuine question, iv just had to start using a £22 DAC for Amazon because it has a remote control, then on to an ARCAM ALPHA 8 Amplifier & Ae109 Floor standing Speakers. I'm a 50 YO man, so i doubt my hearing is that of an 18 YO. How much difference would i really notice if i changed it out for this DAC for my 20 quid generic one? Any thoughts welcome. Thank you.

Hey, this is a nice and informative review! A question I have is does it lack power for the LCD2's and the Elegia? I plan on getting the Audeze and focal elex down the line and would love to know if I need something more powerful! I also want to use it as a speaker preamp so this is my top choice at the moment.

Two questions if you don't mind - 1) Could I hook this up to both the television and the computer (within the same mode) so it's headphone port serves both without changing settings? (sometimes I like to have both coming through at once, which I can do with my current set up using a small mixer) 2) Can I intergrate a small mixer into the chain for microphone recording purposes but ensure the T.V and computer are using the Topping DX3's DAC for headphone usage and not the inferior quality my mixer has. Thanks in advance.

This looks nice. Compared to the FiiO K5, it provides Bluetooth but gives up the analog line in. So the DX3Pro won't work for me to listen to vinyl/turntable through headphones. Kind of torn between these two units right now because I also want Bluetooth. With either unit, I want to put it in my tape loop.

Was considering pairing the LC2C and the DX3 pro plus. Thought the “crisper” highs would go along nicely with the darker LCD2Cs. Any thoughts on this?

Can I connect the TV sound via Toslink SPDIF Optical cable and the PC sound via USB to the audio interface and output both to my Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro (250 Ohm) so that I can hear TV and PC at the same time?
