-- Best Cheap Microphone (Boya BY-M1 Review) --

The Boya MY-B1 is hands down the best budget microphone on the market! It's a clip on microphone with awesome audio quality that rivals some of the much more expensive mic options.

Whether you’re looking for the best microphone for YouTube videos, live streaming, an interview, a podcast or any type of video creation - this cheap lapel microphone is a solid choice!

You can use it on iPhone, Android, DSLR or pretty much any other camera/device with a 3.5mm input. Plus it even works great when you’re filming in windy and high noise situations.

Even though I’ve got access to a ton of professional gear, I STILL use this $15 Boya microphone quite regularly! In this video I’ll explain the reasons I still use it and I’ll share why it’s all you need to get started on YouTube.

I bought these a few months ago for my channel due to your recommendation in a previous video. I honestly did not pick it up until today when I decided to use it and I DO NOT REGRET IT. A million thanks to you.

A gorgeous video. Literally all the information I was searching for (and tried to find in 10+ videos about the mic) in one short video. Thank you for the great content!

I've been using one of these for 4 years now and I can't believe how well it works for the price! I use it for my voice in most of my videos. I'd recommend it to everyone as a great budget mic.

Just what I needed. Can't afford more expensive ones. Since I live alone and my neighborhood is quiet, I think it'd be perfect for me! Thanks!

Thanks for the video, Justin. I bought this microphone after seeing your video review a few years ago. I still use it and agree with everything you said. Have a great day.

I’ve been using a Boya corded mic for about three month now with my Cannon DSLR camera. It is a good mic, but not quite as good as the previous lavalier mic that has a transmitter/receiver that I had been using for a couple of years. Thanks for the video, Justin. Enjoyed it.

Bought this on your recommendation a while back. Capable little mic. I actually find the long cord a benefit, since I use it for product demos and interviews, and I can get the reach I want. I see you mentioned the other Boya options, but they also have a model (BY-M1S) that evidently is the same as this, but WITHOUT the need for a battery.

I've got one and it works pretty well. You can always go and record your voice in a closet if there's too much background noise providing you don't have face on camera, of course.

You might already know this, but you can use a TRSS to TRS adapter into camera and then don't have to use the battery. One issue I noticed, the recording ends up with some sort of 50 Hz humm / buzz. It depends a bit on how the cable is lying. I use a 50 Hz notch filter in the video editor to correct this, but something to be aware of.

I bought this microphone on your recommendation and i must say its a good microphone. Have tried 2 others which wasn't really up to it.

Ive use this mic with my phone and plugged into the computer for voice over.

Jep, the boya BY-M1 is still one of the best Mics i ever have used. One major con: the cable is crappy long.

Ah the note about the audio coming in too loud on some Android phones might be what I'm struggling with. Thank you thank you!
