The tragic life of China’s last emperor

I heard many stories about this guy. They said that he treated his wife horribly and one documentary.

How hard must it be to live through such a dramatic change of circumstances. I wonder if he truly has no choice about being a puppet emperor once grown, though.

iirc he corrected someone who was doing a tour of the forbidden city about an artifact being the original. When the tourguide asked how he knew he said "I was given it as a boy and I still own it" (or similar, can't remember if it was something he still owned and the artifact was a fake, or if the tourguide said something incorrect about the artifact and the emperor corrected him about it because he remembered it himself). Either way, it's pretty sad to see what he was reduced to, but I guess it was done to show equality amongst the citizens/a way to humble the old Empire. By all the accounts I read he wasn't a very nice person, was a chronic cheater and contracted numerous STDs which he passed along to his wife, rendering her infertile.


(if any of this is wrong please correct me, this is just what I remember from watching other videos).
