The last Empress of China went insane and starved to death in a pool of her own urine, vomit and excrement. Her baby daughter was thrown into a boiler against her will.

Wanrong, was born on November 13, 1906, in Beijing. Born Gobulo to Rongyuan, a high-ranking minister in the Imperial Court, and Hengxin, a boasted top-notch pedigree. she had far from humble beginnings. All in all, her parents might have been overjoyed to spoil their little girl—except tragedy struck the moment she was born.

Sadly, Wanrong’s mother died after her birth. Instead, a kindly stepmother raised the little girl like her own daughter. But that didn’t mean it was a normal childhood.

This is entirely tragic. She was cursed by all the events in her life. She didn’t have a chance. I have had hard turns in life but I feel so lucky when I hear stories like this.

Wenxiu was the lucky one leaving as she did. She became a teacher and remarried. Wanrong and Wenxiu were terribly competative with each other for Pu Yi's affections. When he bought something for Wanrong Wenxiu wanted the same.

So tragic- she was doomed the moment she had to marry the last emperor.
At least in 2006 she got something of a bit of respect.
Rest in peace ❤xxx 🙏

At the China House (museum) in Tianjin, Wanrong's personal dresser is on display. It is very beautiful and ornate. At the center is the mirror that Wanrong called her "beauty glass." Staring into that very same mirror, one can't help but hope that despite her turbulent and tragic life, she found some moments of joy admiring her own beauty in that very same "beauty glass." May her soul rest in peace.

Poor Wanrong. She didn't deserve that terrible ending.

In PuYi's life, everything he did was either dictated or arranged by someone else! However his attitude toward his wife was horrible, he was responsible for whatever happened to himself and to his family! So sad a family!

That Puyi was a real bast"*d! His behavior towards his wife was the catalyst for all that occurred with the empress after the Russian invasion. Sad, sad ending for this lady!
