I’m glad to see ClawBoss still driving the bus. He’s my favorite bus driver.

I’m a mechanic, and word of wisdom. Tekton, harbor freight, and husky is your best friend. Don’t over spend on tools! It’s very easy to do…. And if you borrow it more than twice you need to get one…. Thanks for your school bus content boss.

Remember you dont have to keep up with the snap on guys. Harbor frieght does just as good on breakables. Spend decent money on your impacts and such but no need to go full blown snap on out the gate.

Been a mechanic for 20yrs, got an associates degree, and ASE's. I still change oil, especially if we are short handed or slow.

BASED AF.
I think that being able to work as a mechanic is a universally good thing, like coding, or cooking.

I see you're a Harbor Freight guy; when i got started a few years back i bought a QUINN set that they had; it was like 427 piece tool set for $380. I know that might be a lot, but it covered a lot of the stuff you will need including full torx, hex bit, 12 point, metric and standard sockets in various square drives, screw drivers, regular metric and standard wrenches as well as a select set of ratcheting wrenches, breaker bar, extensions, ect. I only did a year of heavy use with them at a truck shop before i switched to painting cars, but everything made it out except one Torx socket and my 1/2" swivel socket broke.

If you're going to take this seriously, id definitely recommend getting a plastic cart with decent size wheels. The plastic is to reduce the risk of damaging a vehicle if it makes contact, the wheels are more likely to run over air hoses and stupid stuff on the floor, and its a good place to put some tools and supplies you need for the job to avoid running to your box. Your cart is basically the thing you use during the day and your box is storage for stuff that you don't think you need for the job you're currently working on. I know you're not flat rate, but if it ever happens, having a way to cut down the time walking to and from your box can really add up. Id also be sure to stay disciplined by having a spot for everything, and id say at least reorganize once a week.
