You can see how broken they are after Basil's suicide. They just got back together like the old days and suddenly it all falls apart.
Aubrey thinks it's her fault and feels guilty. Kel snaps and loses his joyful spirit. Hero who overcame the grief of losing Mari falls back down. Polly feels worthless as she was Basil's caretaker.
Just imagine their reaction when they learn Sunny committed suicide as well. I think anyone would lose it at this point.

i actually found this ending on my own it’s optional to get the knife if you don’t pick up it you just move but the sound of ambulance sirens are heard throughout the whole credits and if you do pick up the knife this is what happens…

basically this is the knife ending where sunny kills himself in his sleep. he kills himself while not realizing due to him not saving basil. at least thats how i interpreted it. so ye he felt a big load of guilt which already made him suicidal. He was already not mentally well after the mari incident but now that this happened again he kills himself to get over it in his sleep.

Ok, so Sunny and Basil committed suicide. But, the others very possibly did after the game as well. I mean, Aubrey clearly thought Basil killed himself because of her, so she'd blame herself for both deaths. Kel has now seen suicide happen twice and he doesn't know how to cope with such negativity in any way other than moving on, which is difficult to do if it happened twice. Hero would feel inadequate for not saving Basil and Sunny, and added on with his remaining guilt from Maria's death, well. That doesn't seem too good for him. So, basically, they're all fucked
