Utilizing the fast drying time of acrylics, Anne Blair Brown will show you how to create a simplified tonal underpainting that helps eliminate fussy detail and helps you get a looser, more painterly result.

WE BELIEVE ANYONE CAN LEARN TO PAINT and our goal is to show you how. Watching 5 LESSONS in a row will give you the confidence to start painting.

For my own mental state and sanity I need Anne, and her wisdom in the studio. The hardest thing is the fear of the unknown. But staying we’re I am isn’t an option.

Oh Anne, I’m just so bummed your PYHO class was changed and I can’t be there. But this demo was spectacular, learned a lot and I will try again to “loosen” up! This piece is wonderful!!

I love that you shared this with us. As a student of yours, you have challenged the "looseness" painting and WOW, it makes a difference. Lois

This was amazing! I could watch it all day. Anne is such a great instructor and always so encouraging. I know this is very thoughtful and work of a talented artist, but it also felt like magic too! Thanks Anne!

It sounds more like pastel markmaking to me. I have been watching that, too. As a watercolorist basically, both acrylic and pastel fascinates me now.

I am not a fan of magic realism and becoming a loose painter is actually more difficult but the public seems to love it when it looks just like a photograph but not me. I like photographs as an art form .

Painting ‘en plein air’ sort of forces one “to paint loose.” Analyzing, abstracting, applying paint with the sun as your stopwatch, it’s prudent “to paint loose” and encourages quick mark making. Question: Does Anne define herself as a ‘studio painter?’ I see she’s indoors working from a photo.

It is not an easy transition to move from detail to loose painter. it depends on your character .Obcessive personalities have a harder time.
