Best Folding Bow Saw - 2021

Calorie savings is huge in survival mode, which is something that most people do not understand, but please consider this: The amount of effort that it takes to make a fire and cook some food had better be less than that of the total allotted calories that you have brought with you for each day. To simplify, if you have water that needs boiling, you need a fire. If you have cold weather, you need a fire. In order to get fire, you must collect and prepare wood for that fire. If you brought an axe with you, you are going to spend about twice the calories splitting and cutting wood as compared to the Sawvivor. You are also going to spend more calories carrying that axe, because I don't know of any axe that weighs less than this thing. Bottom line, they don't call it Sawvivor for nothing. It will help you stay alive/alert/aware by affording you more calories to do other useful things around camp.
Some of my field testing consists of fairly large deadfall cuts, and I'll tell you that this saw can cut a 4-5" tree with relative ease. Try doing that with your axe.
The saw comes with a wood blade in the handle, so no need to purchase a blade right away, unless you just have to have an extra handy.
Deployment takes about 30 seconds, even if your fingers are numb and throbbing. You can also deploy this saw with some pretty thick gloves on.
I have actually frozen my hand to the saw in some extreme cold weather, so I recommend using gloves and utilizing the comfort grip handle as well. Also, in general, gloves should be worn for all outdoor woodworking as a precaution.
The average blade life has yet to be determined in ten years of owning this saw. I keep mine wet with WD-40 while cutting in the field and the blade has never dulled on me at all. Be sure to keep the blade free from binding and pinching logs as you cut and the blade will last a very long time. Also, after wet trips, be sure to dry and oil the saw to keep it in optimal working order.
This is an un-noticable addition to the overall weight of your pack. Get one!

I have one of those. Great little saw. When the handle finally wore off, I wrapped it with paracord. The tightening nut is still fine. Absolutely the lightest, nicest little buck saw out there in my opinion. Cheers from Chicago!

Clean up the edge with a file and if the rivets worry you when they do loosen over time replace with some sort of bolt

I can't seem to find the 15 inch replacement blades here in the US for some reason. 🤷‍♂️

looking for a folding saw. this is a good review of a product I've not seen here in the States unfortunately the link points towards a cheap Coghlen. I've bought a number of their products but a saw is not what I'm looking for from them.
