"The Devil Went Up To Canada"

The Devil went up to Canada. He was lookin' for a soul to steal.
He was in a bind 'cause he was way behind. He was willing to make a deal
When he came across this prepper sawin' on a log and not gettin’ it caught.
And the Devil jumped upon a big spruce stump and said "Prepper, let me tell you what."

"I guess you didn't know it, but I'm a old log cutter, too.
And if you'd care to take a dare I'll make a bet with you.
Now you cut a pretty good log there, boy, but give the Devil his due.
I'll bet a saw of gold against your soul 'cause I think I'm better than you."

The prepper said, "My name's Nate, and it might be a sin,
But I'll take your bet; and you're gonna regret 'cause Silky’s the best there's ever been."

Nate, grease up your blade and saw your logs real hard.
'Cause Hell's broke loose in Canada and the Devil deals the cards.
And if you win you get this shiny wood saw made of gold,
But if you lose the devil gets your soul.

The Devil opened up his case and he said, "I'll start this show."
And fire flew from his fingertips as he tightened up his bow.
And he pulled the bow across the bark and it made an evil hiss.
And a band of comment trolls joined in and it sounded something like this.

When the Devil finished, Nate said, "Well, you're pretty good ol' son,
But sit down in that chair right there and let me show you how it's done."

"Saw dust on the Mountain." Cut, boys, cut!
The Devil's in the house of the Inuit;
Chicken's in the bread pan picking out dough.
Granny, does Marshall bite? No, child, no.

The Devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat.
And he laid that golden saw on the ground at Nate's feet.
Nate said, "Devil, just come on back. If you ever wanna try again,
I done told you once—you son of a bitch—Silky’s the best that's ever been."
And he played:

"Saw dust on the Mountain." Cut, boys, Cut!
The Devil's in the house of the Inuit;
The chicken's in the bread pan picking out dough.
Granny, will Marshall bite? No, child, no.

What’s better, silky saw or bow saw? Brought to you by Silky Saws

Folding saws for camping, a truck tool, or a Bug Out Bag... Always the way to go. Personally... They are faster and more efficient. I do carry spare blades... Just in case but after processing 45 plus 6”-9” smaller trees with my big boy 2000... (That is the cutting down tree and cutting the trunk into manageable lengths for splitting...) still have razor sharp teeth and no issues what so ever. As a customer. Im hooked.

With a bow saw you can swap the blade for green, soft or hard wood, which would be a plus

You got one thing 'wrong' about the bowsaw, and i see this repeated more often, the saw can cut a log 2x the height between the blade and the 'bow'; given you can turn said log. Yes, it will thus take longer ... and i do not blame you for repeating what everybody else says on the topic (up to some of the most experienced wood/bush-crafters), but clearly they are just repeating the wrong information... So a bowsaw can cut a log 2x the space between the bow and the blade, GIVEN you can turn the log !

Pffft! In SHTF I'll be chewing through trees with my teeth like a real man.

Have fun with your saws, girls!

"bow saws vs. silky saws"
Oh, those? I know that he kinda crazes about them but let's see his points.

Silky goes in the pack. Bow stays in the truck or basecamp for backup/jobs that its better suited for. Why choose just one!

As an arborist my self I never seen a silky saw brake they get dull and cut slower after a few years of use meaning about a thousand cuts later a camper won’t have to worry about it for years . Great video but I really think there is no reason of comparing the two but after reading some of these comments I feel your pain .

As an arborist I use a silky zubat every day. I can get behind that they are easier to use as far as ergonomics go. I haven't seen a blade snap yet and I've had them pinched plenty. A folding bow saw would be a good backup in my opinion as they take up little space

Up where you live it seems you mainly have soft wood.
How would or does the silky work on aged hard woods like oak, hickory or mesquite ?

Or better yet, how would it handle Osage Orange, that would be a true test for any saw.

Thanks for the video CP I appreciate the effort you put I to all of your video production and the underlying thought behind all of your points. Not just for this video but for all of them, I am on a mission to watch all of your videos and after I have absorbed your breadth of knowledge maybe I will start my own outdoors minded network. You have motivated me to exercise more and quit smoking. You have kicked my love for the outdoors into overdrive. You have shown me many skills and tips that I had not know we're possible. Again myself and many others appreciate the time and effort you put into your network and I will continue to watch your videos as long as you continue your quest. PS I'm saving for a silky and bug out roll at the moment keep them in stock !

Before I watch, I have to say the beginning shoots out a HUGE question: When I'm asked "Which is better, a bow saw or a Silky Saw, brought to you by Silky Saws" it makes me wonder if I'm going to see what I expect, and be left wondering how much of the results are skewed. I don't like to enter a situation with expectations of being misled, but it's a really bad look to start.

I've got & use a silky bigboy for camping firewood, & have used a bow saw. The silky gives a better faster cut, however it can link & damage the blade permanently. Whereas the bow saw blades can be replaced. I think it's worth taking a small silky saw too, to release the blade if it gets pinched & stuck.

Totally agree. I have the katana boy 650 and it rocks. No comparison to any other saw I own. I have a old one man Atkins logging saw that comes close with large logs but its 3 times the size, not nearly as versatile, has to be sharpened often etc. I highly highly recommend silky saws.

don't misunderstand me I'm not saying your bucks all made with the type 51 or both saw me for the type 51 Baca will beat your folders what I'm saying is by using a type 23 Greenwood pruning bow saw against the silkies you're not giving an affair shot I truly believe that ate Bacco pipe 51 dry wood blade will have similar cutting times because it'll be a both so I do not believe it will be able to beat the silkies but I think the difference in amount of time that it takes to make the same cut will be a hell of a lot shorter every other negative point you suggest about a Bosa I agree with
