SpaceX crew performs historic spacewalk

The crew of Polaris Dawn performed the first ever spacewalk by private astronauts. Climbing 870 miles above earth, the five-day mission is the furthest humans have traveled since the Apollo missions. NBC News’ Tom Costello reports on the major milestone.

This is the first time since the 80s a brand new space suit design has been used in space.

Not sure people understand... this mission is not a walk in the park for touring space

This mission is a test. One of them is to test the new suit they are wearing, which modified every component of the old astronaut suit. If it fails, all of them are dead, including the ones inside the capsule. It does matter if they walked outside or not.
