Custom Onyx Vesper Road Bike Wheel Spin Test

This is a spin test on a newly built custom Road Bike Wheel. It was built by My Buddy's Bike Shop in Livermore and the selected Hub is the OnyX Vesper 130mm Quick Release Road bike Hub laced with DT Swiss Laser Spokes to a DT Swiss 460 Aluminum Wheel. The hub is perfectly silent when costing and has instant engagement. The Onyx Vesper hub is the second generation model and has shed a lot of weight from a re-design. The Onyx Vesper hub employs a Sprag clutch instead of the traditional pawl and ratchet system found on most standard road bike hubs. The Sprag clutch has been used in automotive transmissions and in helicopters for many years and is a proven technology that Onyx has successfully deployed in a mountain and Road bike hub configuration. The objective was to built a heavy duty aluminum wheel that offered a rear wheel weight comparable to a Zipp 202 or 404 NSW Carbon Wheel. It clearly outperforms it as I have been able to run side by side on the road comparisons of the Zipps and other high end off the shelf wheels. This Onyx Vesper Road Wheel rolls forever on flats and slight uphill grades. It clearly save you watts and pedaling effort under most all road surface conditions. I feel this is a real game changer of a road wheel and I feel that i've captured lightning in a bottle.
