On tonight’s top story: Outrage is mounting in Canada’s largest city in the wake of a community celebration that turned violent. The City of Toronto has revoked the licence for Festival Eritrea after violence broke out. But as Ahmar Khan reports, the city and police are being criticized for not doing more to prevent it from happening.

It has been an unprecedented summer for wildfires across Canada but especially in British Columbia. More than 30 new fires have sparked in that province within the past 24 hours. Firefighters are using all the tools at their disposal and this weekend, that means starting new fires in order to get the situation under control. Elissa Carpenter explains.

Retaliatory attacks against Russian aggression appear to be ramping up. Two bridges connecting Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine with Crimea were damaged in an apparent missile attack. It marks Ukraine’s latest attempt to disrupt Russian supply lines and military operations in Crimea and the Black Sea. And as Redmond Shannon reports, it comes as Ukraine tries to shore up more international support against Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Meanwhile in the U.S., a battle is being waged over abortion rights in Texas. A judge has ruled the state’s abortion ban is too restrictive for women with serious pregnancy complications. But just as the temporary injunction was put in place, it was immediately blocked by an appeal. Coleen Christie reports.

It’s still summer, but political pundits are already looking ahead to the fall, when the country’s next provincial election will take place. Premier Heather Stefanson is looking to remain in power when Manitobans head to the polls on Oct. 3. But as Eric Sorensen reports, she is facing a tough fight.

Most people alive today experienced the Second World War through old photos and films, but it’s hard to grasp the true sense of the times unless you’ve lived them. Yvonne Wildman was one of many women working for the Royal Canadian Air Force and captured many moments from her service as a photographer. This weekend, she celebrated a very special milestone. Brody Ratcliffe explains.

Police do their job, they get criticized. Police don't 'supposedly' do their job, they get criticized. Hmmm, how about the communities causing the trouble that requires police assistance stop causing trouble. You're not victims. Take responsibility for yourselves and stop promoting your country's conflict in Canada.

There is a course to become a citizen, and there should be a course to be granted a permanent resident. Leave your issues and violence at home, but allow peaceful assembly and non-violent demonstrations.

Please don't bring other countries problems to here. If you left that country, leave your problems there.
And if you had a reason to believe that this is going to happen, why did you do the festival?
Don't blame the police now.

Protests for foreign countries should be outlawed in Canada. You want to protest for the country you immigrated from, then return and do your protesting there. Those disobeying our laws, need to be deported. I’m so sick the problems these people are creating in Canada. Go back if you won’t go by our laws. It’s time our PM made some changes.
