On tonight’s top story: Outrage is mounting in Canada’s largest city in the wake of a community celebration that turned violent. The City of Toronto has revoked the licence for Festival Eritrea after violence broke out. But as Ahmar Khan reports, the city and police are being criticized for not doing more to prevent it from happening.
It has been an unprecedented summer for wildfires across Canada but especially in British Columbia. More than 30 new fires have sparked in that province within the past 24 hours. Firefighters are using all the tools at their disposal and this weekend, that means starting new fires in order to get the situation under control. Elissa Carpenter explains.
Retaliatory attacks against Russian aggression appear to be ramping up. Two bridges connecting Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine with Crimea were damaged in an apparent missile attack. It marks Ukraine’s latest attempt to disrupt Russian supply lines and military operations in Crimea and the Black Sea. And as Redmond Shannon reports, it comes as Ukraine tries to shore up more international support against Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Meanwhile in the U.S., a battle is being waged over abortion rights in Texas. A judge has ruled the state’s abortion ban is too restrictive for women with serious pregnancy complications. But just as the temporary injunction was put in place, it was immediately blocked by an appeal. Coleen Christie reports.

Premier Heather Stefanson is looking to remain in power when Manitobans head to the polls on Oct. 3. But as Eric Sorensen reports, she is facing a tough fight.
