A "Contract" is a binding legal document, put a lien against his home for amount unpaid, plus 20% for legal fees. Being a so called "contractor" himself, he knows what's coming. Don't allow him to get away with anything.

I have done Concrete over 40 years. You did a dam good job. Some people are just jerks until they get punched in the face

I was a drywall contractor for forty years, and learned really quickly that if you're getting bad vibes from a customer early on its best to run before you're past the point of no return. Hard work deserves respect and full payment.

Make sure you sue this bastard. Do not let him get away with anything. Sue him for your lawyer too.

Just a little advice... Doing concrete work is tough. But structure your payments as follows 30% up front, 30% when all the form work is done, 30% when the concrete shows up, 10% on final inspection. And 15% labor increase on any change plus extra materials cost multipled by 3. People like him take advantage of honest professionals like you.

Bro, he never intended to pay you from day 1. It was 100% a scam. You should sue him for the rest of your money. The job was perfect. Absolutely beautiful

Don't let him get away with it. File a lien. Even if he never pays it will follow him for quite some time. You did a fantastic job.

I’m a GC myself. Although concrete is not my best personal strength, I’ve been around it plenty enough to know exactly what I’m seeing and exactly what you’re saying. I’ve watched both videos and I’ve been reading these comments. I feel compelled to say to you, Good fucking job man. Outstanding work, top notch quality. Customers like this are the worst kind of people. You handled yourself like a true professional. I salute you, sir.

I have to ask, how much did he end up holding out on the payment? Not asking what you charged, but how much did he not pay you?
After watching this and seeing such good quality, I can only hope you charged him accordingly from the gate.

For those of you wondering it was 40% That's what the customer paid Odelle. I had to scroll through the comments for an hour to finally find it 😂 Great work on a successful job well done minus the stiffing of full payment, and congratulations on a very successful video.

40% is nuts. Please hold that abuser accountable — he owes 100% plus every change order (rebar, rebar chairs, the upcharge on the 4500psi concrete, the oiling the forms, the extra labor for the 4500 psi concrete (and mark up the labor even more for “last minute” change where you had to scramble to find them)). File and perfect your mechanics lien. Take him to court — preferably small claims, if your jurisdiction permits that. With your documentation and videos, I can bet that most judges would side with you right away.

Do NOT let him get away with ripping you off!!! You must stand your ground. Mechanics lean are there for a reason. Beautiful job. Good luck

I love watching my contractors, not as a supervisor but as an observer. I thoroughly enjoy appreciating how much work, art and craft go into specialty labor. I love chatting with the contractors to understand why they do things the way they do, learn tips/tricks and most seem fine with it. I think this job was flawless!

I’d say the homeowner has gotten away with this before and has not been investigated or charged before. He’ll do it again until he gets a blackball from all local contractors and workers. He is an exploiter.

I ran a ready mix company and was in the business for 43 years and will attest that this is first class finish.

I'm a retired general contractor, over 40 years of experience. Built too many houses to count, and pour a whole lot of flatwork with my crew. This is a about the best I;ve seen. Great work for sure!

Lien his home and be relentless in getting paid for the job and any additional expenses he caused. The pour itself and workmanship is top notch.

Anyone who openly documents their work as you do obviously has pride in what they do. I have been following your videos for years and learnt a lot. Great job as always

Nothing better then a homeowner standing behind you telling you how to do your job .

I painted walls and floors at a 6 car repair garage.
After completing the paint on floor began bubbling and peeling.
Owner mentioned that they had a 500 gallon used oil spill recently that covered entire area.
If i knew this in advance i would have refused the job. Like painting an oily sponge.
Finally after much bs from the guy i told him i was calling the EPA and having them pull soil samples under his foundation and if they found contamination he was looking at a fine, loss of business and the cost to have the entire site dug up and desposed of.
He paid in full and i never heard from him again.
