I am a retired cosmetologist. I had my own salon for years. I had a regular in my chair, halfway through a haircut. He did something he’d done a couple times n said, BTW, I’ll pay you at the end of the week for this haircut. I don’t have the money today. I once went to his apartment to collect when Friday came n went. Don’t play with me or my money. 😠
So I brushed him off, whipped off the cape n said “ Sure, you can do that n I’ll finish your haircut then”. 😊 He was totally embarrassed n he paid when he got his haircut after that. He’d say when he called for an appointment, “I’ve got the money!” 😅
I did finish his haircut that day. I just wanted to make a point. I succeeded. 🤗

Should be a register of non paying clients, that contractors can access.

Well done Katelyn. That woman never had ANY intention of paying the correct price and you were quite right to "uninstall" the product. Full marks to you!

Small businesses take so much crap with ppl wanting freebee's. I have it in my life and it showed me who my real friends are. Glad that they went and tore that grass right up!!!

I have an ex sister in law who quite often did this and 1 time I actually saw a video on Facebook that the contractor took as he and his team uplifted the patio they had put down. Hearing her screaming at the top of her voice "I've paid" well I peed my pants laughing so much. I actually sent her a copy of the video asking her how she felt about her 5 mins of fame?? Obviously she never got back to me about it 😂😂😂

I was helping a friend do collecting on a large window done on short notice and homeowner and grounds company both refused to pay. I called the company and said if not paid by 5:00 pm we are filing in court to remove the window, not for payment just the window. Then you can argue with homeowner because you OK'd the work. And as the glass company owner had friends with other companies the word would spread not to fix the gapping hole for them. That would have meant another company travelling several hours to do the work, so very expensive. A cheque was dropped off within 2 hours, leaving my friend in awe!

My Dad had a paving company. Twice in 40 years in business he ripped up two customers Drive ways who refused to pay.

I am a landscaper and this has happened to me. Client paid a deposit, we finished the job and told to come back in three days and by that time they had installed a coded gate and we were barred from entering the property. Small claims court wasn't worth the hassle and lawyer fees. SOLUTION : We demand an 80% deposit to start the job and balance on stipulated day of completion. If the client is not available that day, we reschedule the completion for a much later date or we walk away. 80% deposit covers our cost plus a profit to pay our guys, and it's all in a signed contract. So NO MORE COURT and we get paid everytime. If you don't want to pay the 80% deposit upfront, then we are not the company for you.✌🏽

My husband owns a building company. As his manager and legal rep, I’ve slapped liens on 3 clients in 30+ years. Once a lien is issued, all work stops on a property. So if it’s just been rough framed, it’s getting nothing else done. No one, not even the owner can work on the property. They paid up rather quickly!

I own rental properties as well as a larger house. I need roofers, AC guys, lawn people, electricians etc. I pay the day the work is done without delay. I can call any trade person and they fit me in as soon as is possible, usually same day. They often say prompt payment is rare and they give me top service because I respect their income. I also get a few free things from time to time. Respect the people that keep things working and make your life easier. It’s so worth it.

We had a giant tree taken down. It took longer than he thought it would l, definitely not due to laziness. We paid him quite a bit more than his. He worked so hard and I felt he underbid. I am not wealthy but feel you should be fair and definitely not take advantage of a hard working person. This woman is real piece of work.

My pal is a sign fitter.
When a customer agreed a price, but then offered to pay half the agreed price, my pal agreed.
He then got his ladder back off the van, and took down half the sign and drove away.
A few days later, the customer agreed to pay the other half, PLUS another £200 labour to put the sign back together.

I’ve had a couple of people who I had to chase down for payment. These people were friends!! After they FINALLY paid, I told them I will not accept another order from them unless they pay in full up front. If they have a problem with that, they can get someone else to complete their project/order, etc.
The time, effort, supplies & MY skill involved is NOT something I’ll be “giving away”.

Some people are just horrible!! After taking the grass out I would have taken her to small claims court and got the rest of my money!! But good for you for standing up for yourself!! 👏🏻👏🏻

I worked for an home improvements company that had tens of thousands in unpaid debts. I went to 1 private school to collect for their canvas shade cloth. I arrived with a broken cordless drill & never saw a cheque written so fast - now we are talking over $17K back then, canopy covering company to chase up bad debts. I went to a very exclusive & expensive private who refused to pay. The construction was over 4 days so it was a major job to remove it. I walked back inside with a cordless drill & a cheque was written superfast. This was a small company & I chased up over $110K in outstanding debts.

Before you even said what the issue was, I watched it and said the woman clearly didn’t water it and so it’s gone yellow. It’s obvious what happened.
