I had this for about 4 months and was a little bit scared seeing all the comments on the internet of people who couldn't find a cure. I went to my GP and it turned out to be caused by fluid on the ear from a chronic sinus infection. I had also woken up every morning for 6 months like I had a cold and just put up with it.. My doctor put me on prescription sinus spray and it worked! I don't have the pulse in my ear anymore. It took about 2+ months to get better but it's gone! So check your sinus. I had no sinus pain so I had no idea! I wanted to come back and share this because I hadn't seen anyone talk about sinus issues.

If anyone is facing pulsatile tinnitus and none of the usual quick-reliefs work, try angling you head different ways. For me, the pulsing is about 80% reduced if I press my ear towards my shoulder -- e.g., when my left ear is pulsating, I'll try to press my right ear towards my right shoulder.
A second way is to lightly press two fingers/knuckles against the muscle between your jaw and ear (the side that's whooshing/pulsing). I do this if I'm in a meeting and need to discretely relief the whooshing, and just pretend I'm resting my head on my fist with elbow on the desk.

it’s so frustrating dealing with this never ending noise every single second of every single day for over two years now but to hear some closure about it really helped me feel better, so thank you

I have seen my primary doctor, 2 ents, cardiologist & they are clueless & could careless. The last ent suggested I see a psychiatrist. Like I was crazy.

If you have this, please go to a doctor. Pulsatile tinnitus may appear without reason, but also it can suggest that is something wrong in your body. I have pulsatile tinnitus for about 3 weeks and I did all the tests (MRI, MRA and ultrasound of carotid arteries ) and they did not show anything bad. After excluding all the possibilities, my neurologist told me that it is possible to be from a bad position of the cervical column because my life is sedentary and I sit on a chair for about 8h a day.

I have constant tinnitus, but when I'm nervous or anxious it turns into pulsatile tinnitus. I've had it before and I know when I'm more relaxed it will not be so loud. 😐Also bizzarly if your not wearing the right reading glasses it can effect tinnitus 😕One last thing DO NOT have loud music on your headphones. 🎧😔.And finally never put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear. 🙃

Have had this exact whooshing noise for about two weeks now, left ear only, 95% of the time at night. I also wear earplugs when I sleep so its is very noticable when it starts. I have an appointment with my pcp tomorow 11/30/23. Will keep you all updated with any findings. Great Video, thanks Ben for making this. your not alone its really not fun, and I hope everyone on here gets better and can be free of this annoying potentially dangerous condition

Going to my doctor next week about this and other problems. Thank you! It’s comforting to see the comments and to see that it’s pretty common.

I had surgery for Acoustic Neuroma aka Schwannoma. Tumor is such a pain in the rear end. About 3% of the tumor was left in if not I would've been completely deaf in the right ear. Unfortunately after the surgery MRI showed the tumor trying to grow back. So I had 25 radiation treatments to the right side of my head. Between the surgery and the radiation I now have pulsating tinnitus. It's been a rough past year to say the least!

Thank you so much for this video. This video helped me describe my symptoms to the neurotologist. I was diagnosed with a broken middle ear today and will have surgery. He says I can expect full restoration of my hearing. Chances of tinnitus going away are 60-70%.

This has been so informative!
I have PT for half a year now and I kept searching for explanations on yt, but none have been as precise as yours. Thank you for making me understand it better and giving me hope ☀️

This is a very good video thank you. Finding proper medical care is key as we know most doctors could really care less about their patients. Easier said than done. Basically not much you can do about it unless you find something surgically that can be done.

I started getting this randomly last night in my left ear when I was sleeping that woke me up. I've been having problems with my left ear for awhile. My ENT said I had eustachian tube dysfunction. I hope this tinnitus can get resolved soon, because sleep last night was horrible😭😭
