A MUCH EASIER alternative to the TUBULAR CAST-ON

Step-by-step instructions on a super simple alternative to the tubular cast-on that's much easier to knitin the round.

The tubular cast-on is super pretty and creates a lovely edge for a 1-by-1 rib stitch. But when you want to knit it in the round, the edge constantly twists around and it quickly becomes a nightmare. This version may be less stretchy but it's so much easier to knit. If you know the longtail cast-on and how to do a yarn over, you are basically set!

Thank you so much Norman - I've been struggling with a tubular cast on in the round (thought as I understood the tubular cast off I wouldn't have any problems - how wrong I was 😂) this is a great alternative & looks so much better than many other cast ons in the round❤

I know the yo knit, but I learned with you the long-tail stretchy two needle cast-on today. Your voice is always nice and melodic so it helps learning with you. Thank you very much.

Over the last months your videos have encouraged me to try DPNs again and each time I do I have more success, thank you. I just need to purchase some wooden or bamboo ones, because the stitches don't slip off as easily.

This was really good, how elastic is it? And the other method to do a super elastic, how to continue on that one, is it another video?

Thanks for this helpful tutorial, Norman! Quick question: since you don't double up the first 2 stitches, don't you have to cast on half the number of desired stitches + 2 extra stitches?

Do you have a video for the stretchy version in the round on circular needles. I'm getting completely twisted up!

I am missing something: when you cast on initially, for flat knitting, if you cast on half the number you need plus one stitch, when/how do you get rid of that added stitch in the cast on?

My pattern asks me to cast on an odd number of stitches using the tubular cast on (77 stitches) what changes would I make to this method to end up with an odd number of stitches? X

So I testing
I have avoided the tubular cast on because of how much it twists.
How stretchy is this compared to other cast ons? I'm wondering if it ends up a bit tight?
