So I want to correct you on one thing. The functions are dependent only if the W(x)=0 for EVERY x value in the interval. For the functions to be linearly independent, you only need to find 1 x value for which W(x) is not = 0. You happened to be right about the dependence of both functions, but only by coincidence.

WARNING!!! If w(x)=0, it DOES NOT follow that {f1, f2, f3, ..., fn} is linearly dependent. The set of vectors is only linearly dependent if f1, ..., f2 are analytic and the wronskian is identically 0.

So I am currently being taught in Linear Algebra that if the Wronskian is zero for all x in a set [a, b] then the test is inconclusive.. so you must use the definition directly.. how did you get that it is dependent based just off of getting a zero?

Great video ! I would just like to add for clarity that independent means "lineary independent"... it means that you can't write ONE FUNCTION as a LINEAR COMBINATION of others ... Regards !
