You really made my home state look so beautiful. Thank you for showing coal country with such respect. It is easy to look at the poverty in our state and discount the people and beauty, but you presented both with dignity. The history included was so interesting and accurate, including things I didn't know. Thank you for showing the Coal Miner's Memorial, a few of those names were family, and I appreciate the honor you showed those brave men, women, and their families. I can't wait to see more of this series! It's like watching a motion picture of my home! ! Beautifully shot, beautifully edited, great sound quality. So impressed, loved it!!
Ohhh, and now I want a dozen of those Korean pork kimchi tacos from Black Sheep!!! LOL!!! Jeana sure knows where to find good food.

And the nomination goes to .. Kaye Kittrell for best picture, production, editing and sound effect! Kaye, you really did well on this video. The information provided about Kentucky is very factual, informative and educational. This is why I really love your travel videos. When are you planning to visit VA, DC, and MD -- the beltway?

When I was a girl and my family moved to KY ~25 years ago, you would see easily a hundred coal trucks in an hour drive (we used to count them back when they were a novelty to us). Now there are only a few. Those hills of coal near Huntington used to be huge! I live an hour southeast of Huntington and it is one of our monthly-ish 'got to get to the city/going stir-crazy' destinations. Hope you're enjoying your vacation!

What a wonderful video and very touching. I had forgotten the past of coal mining and the towns it created, also learning history I wasn't aware of, thank you Kaye. Seeing the memorial was sad but yet powerful. The countryside is gorgeous and was surprised at how few farms you passed on your trip through the area, I hollered once..."stop Kaye I want to see the farm". Lol!! I am a woman born and bred in the northwest, so your trips to other states, especially the southern states is really fantastic, I get to see so much. You always seem to touch my heart. :-)

A good video, Kaye. It makes one think of all the fine people that lost their lives through collapsing or explosions in the coal tunnels. Well researched and a well-produced video. I can only imagine what it must have been like digging with a pick at the coal face with a lot of dust and unclean air, Cheers for now xx Patrick

This is a beautiful tribute to a hard-working people! I remember meeting the Manns, the Mayles, the Manards, and a few Blankenships in Columbus, OH. I sold family portraits in the Huntington, WVA grocery store, they claim Billy Ray Cyrus. I smile when I see these names in Metros like Los Angeles:-) These families came from a solid heritage. I see all the weeds and think oh they could scatter so much Swamp Milkweed there:-) I have a bedroom full and still finding eggs in remote places of course on the smallest plants. I am also looking forward to the next Coal Country video!

Start on the Cumberland Plateau and end on the Allegheny Plateau, with Ashland, Ky. on the the same western Allegheny geological feature as Pittsburgh, Pa .
