"we noticed that" What he was trying to say was that based on wildly inaccurate methods of measurements based on theories about the development of the universe that are being broken more and more each day, we derived some numbers that don't agree with each other, and when plugging those into our equations for the curvature of spacetime it didn't add up, so we just added a random number to that equation to make it work, and said that it's never even theoretically possible to find out what that is, nothing physical can ever represent it, and it can not be proven even in theory, but it's gotta exist, because it makes the equation work.
Cosmologists loving dark energy is like the ancient greeks assuming that falling things accelerate, because things are made of earth, and horses also go faster when they near their home stables.

The funny thing is... its all based on our ability to observe our environment so in a relative sense... doesn't that mean some parts of the universe have already gone througha different expansion and would therefore be looking at us possibly even in the future? I'm a bit high right now but I think I got a good idea of this relativity thing

I prefer the hypothesis (not mine) that this dark matter that exerts a gravitational potential (energy) on the matter we can observe, is matter outside this universe as we observe it but close to the objects in this universe. We will never be able to observe this other mass because it is outside the membrane of our universe. All we can observe is the effects of its gravity that can travel through the membrane because gravity is made of strings that are not connected to any universe, which also explains why it is so weakly interacive.

I picture it as dropping a blob of paint into a glass of water, the water being the dark matter and the paint being the big bang; when it first contacts the water it is one blob well arranged and very dense, but as it falls through the water it spreads out and expands throughout the cup. Whilst always being surrounded by the water (dark matter)

What if the expansion is not because of dark energy, but something very huge is pulling up the matter because of gravity? And what is the big bang is not the beginning, but actually the end of something? How do you guys even know that?

Maybe the matter and energy of our universe is being drawn at the edges toward something that encompasses our universe that has an incredibly larger density than our universe.

what if the universe we know is actually a small spec on something of unbelievable scale ?

Ok I’m probably incredibly stupid, tired and baked, but if the universe is expanding and we can see 13.8 billion years “into the past” is that where we are expanding from, or towards? And why can’t we see the other way?

If dark energy exists and it will continue the expansion then what is creating the dark energy? It can't be a fixed amount can it? Wouldn't it need to be increasing as the universe increases size? Exponential creation of dark energy seems crazy.
