The more I read about OceanGate and it's CEO, the more I'm convinced that the passengers are dead and have been for quite some time. Most likely the sub imploded or had a complete power failure. If the latter happened, the claims that the sub has 96 hours of air is bullshit based on the company's cavalier attitude regarding safety and lack of any significant oversight. I'd say they had 36 to 48 hours tops.

Look at his eyes, he knows they're long gone...

I do not wish for anyone to die. That said this crew is dead. They lost contact 90 minutes into a 120 minute descent. She most likely suffered a hull breach and instantly imploded.

It lost contact 30 minutes from the bottom. I doubt it’s tangled.

I love how they invite an expert on to sit there as the reporter reads all the "facts" she found on google.

I can’t understand why anyone would want to risk going down in the depth of the ocean so deep...just to visit the titanic, and knowing the risk involved . Taking your 19 year old kid is absolutely insane.

I hope it ended quickly for them without suffering. RIP

A man who previously made this trip had to sign a waiver where death is mentioned three times on the first page alone. They knew the risks.

It defeats me to fathom, no joke or pun intended, why anyone would want to travel down into a deep dark abyss in the middle of the ocean to take a few pictures of an old rotting wreck through a 22 inch thick domed plastic window with 4 others in a rickety capsule with a shared toilet of a curtain and box of zip lock bags and pay 250k for the treacherous torturous dubious and potentially deadly experience. What gives?

60 years ago the USS Thresher, a nuclear submarine, was lost after it imploded at a depth of 8400 feet. In this case the depth is over 12000 feet. If there was an implsion due to hull failure then death would be instantaneous. It took over a year to locate the remains of Thresher. 129 crew perished.

It takes 2 hours to reach the Titanic wreck from the surface and the submergible lost contact in abo8ut half that time. Something happened on the way down and the fact that they can't be found in the general area is ominous. God be with them and with the rescuers.

Dr. David Gallo, an oceanographer who is familiar with the submersible, told Sky News that the timeline of the incident suggests that an implosion is the most likely explanation. The submersible lost contact with the surface 1 hour and 45 minutes into its dive, which is about the time it would take for the pressure to build up to a point where the sub imploded.

Literally too much time spent researching this 100 year old crumbling ship

If they are found alive, it will be a miracle.

What were they going to see of the wreck of the Titanic that they couldn't have seen in some documentary?

I love when she asks him if they could still be alive and he gives the classic "I'm gonna lie here" elongated blink before lying and saying he thinks they could still be alive.

There was safety concern raised by an engineer for OceanGate in 2018. The engineer was fired by company. The viewport was certified to only 1300 meters. The engineer did not agree to certify the design. This is same as Challenger space shuttle. Engineer in that case raised concerns about o-rings. Engineer's opinion was overruled. Shuttle blew up. We will find with OceanGate that there was a failure on the hull at the viewport.

Id be shocked if they're found alive. It'd be a miracle.

Looks like ocean gate will be going out of business

Just a horrific situation, it’s evident with zero pings that these ppl are gone and not just sitting at the bottom hung up somewhere. Holding onto hope is natural but considering all the facts these ppl knew they were goners if anything did go wrong, that it was potentially a one way ticket. Saddened for the families left to have to deal with the loss….. 🙏🏻
