The fabric softener could attract more dirt, as it isn't washed out. Just the baking soda with water would work already

DO NOT do this! Instead, buy or rent a carpet cleaner WITH attachments. The small attachments are for upholstered furniture, Fx beds. Use a recommended solution, and follow the instructions. The good thing is, that you will actually REMOVE the dirt, when you use the machine to vacuum out the cleaning solution, instead of pushing it all into the mattress. Start early in the day, maybe rise the temperature in the room a bit, and your bed will be both clean and dry by evening. And, if you did not have it before, then now is the time to put on mattress protectors. THEY can just go in the washer, as needed. And, if you rented the machine, then maybe you have carpets, or other furniture, that could use a refresh? 😊 P. S. Older, or antique rugs need professional cleaning only.

Don't use the fabric softner! As many has said, it will leave a residue on the fabric that's PERFECT for bacteria to multiply & really fester in.. and it's IMPOSSIBLE to get off!
Use vinegar instead. And if you want a scent, you can use normal perfume. It's way better..

I would definitely start with just the damp towel and steam. Otherwise you’re leaving all the residue from the detergent and fabric softener on the fabric which will quickly attract more dirt. I use plain water (or add a little white vinegar) in my carpet cleaner using the upholstery attachment. Cleans and doesn’t leave residue.

I didnt add the fabric softner. Just baking soda, water and like a teaspoon of detergent. It worked like a charm on my daughters mattress.

My mattresses are clean, no matter what age they are because I am using mattresses waterproof protectors. No creatures living in my mattress, no stains, no dust, no odor . Healthy for me .

If you’re getting a mattress in the first place, I’d suggest a mattress protector. Especially if you have kids using it or it’s for a guest room. All you have to do is remove the protector and wash it with the sheets and blanket. Much easier

2 Tbs baking soda - 1/2 cup detergent - 4 tbs fabric softener - 1/2 cup water - mix - soak towel - wrap around iron - iron with steam

I just use a small clothes steamer and it works great and I don't have to use chemicals that end up staying in the fabric.

Dawn dish detergent baking soda and peroxide i promise you wont be disappointed! I also use this to clean area rugs in my home and it works wonders all the time

Did it on my matress, worked like a charm, just make sure ur iron is steaming good and the towel is moist enough. U can toss your towel after tho.

And takes a while since u gotta do it slowly but does the charm

what is the fabric softener for? this is a throw away product that does no cleaning or anything, its just more chemicals to make them feel soft
