Be honest, how many of you fell for it for a brief second?

Investors today have many tools at their fingertips to make sound decisions. Picking good stocks requires research, time and the ability to evaluate many parameters for the stock, industry and overall economy.

Dividends are a sure way to get rich in the long term, most I'm currently more focused on aggressive investing, been coming by a few investors making as much as $580, 000 in couple months and I'd love tips on how to make this much profit.

What's the tool you're using to compare SCHD and S&P500 total return (includes dividend)? At around 12:07 in video..

A lot of finance content creators have been pushing click bait titles like crazy over the last few weeks and months only to see that they’re full of shit. Glad you’re having some fun and pointing out their nonsense.

Dislike for clickbait.

Removed dislike for great content.

Liked for intelligible and charismatic explaining.

Hey Joe, I’m also a dividend investor but the total returns comparison is incomplete without accounting for taxes. Sure SCHD beats out SPX over the long term with dividends reinvested. However, it’s better to account for the dividend tax along the way as dividends are being reinvested; and to account for the capital gains tax when selling both symbols for a given time period. That would be an accurate comparison, but I’m too lazy to write a script to calculate the exact difference in gains. Honestly, I would guess that SPX would edge out SCHD, but whatever the percentage gain difference is; I’m happy to pay that difference to have some realized gains captured along the way in the form of dividends and they become even more important for my psyche during a bear market. In my opinion, that’s the power of dividend investing. Also I want to mention that I personally invest 80/20 Dividend/Growth respectively, as I do see value in growth stocks too. Mainly to help my unrealized gains grow faster so in the future, I’ll have a bigger portfolio to leverage for cash if needed.

Re SCHD vs SPY - did you reinvest the SPY dividends as well?

And also, dividends generate income, so you can only reinvest maybe 70% of them as you lose 30% to taxes?

Your today portfolio looks completely different. Can you do a video explaining what was your strategy change and why? Thank you!

I think what gets neglected in dividend investing is that if someone is at a high tax bracket, their returns of SCHD fund would be much lower than if they'd just held onto SPY or better yet VUG. What's your thinking around tax efficieny since it's the biggest expense of dividend investing that no one that I follow talks about. I would love to know your thoughts @JosephCarlson.
