In 1923, boarding schools were a popular option for families seeking a formal education for their children. However, behind the polished façade of these institutions lay a world of secrets and untold stories. Many boarding schools at the time were characterized by strict disciplinary measures and harsh living conditions, with students often subjected to physical punishment for even minor transgressions. The curriculum emphasized traditional subjects such as literature, mathematics, and history, but often neglected practical skills and vocational training.

This was so painful to watch, I could not continue with the series... And I am glad the story is being told as much as it disturbs me to the core..

Yes. The genocide of Indian Native Americans needs to be told. Taylor Sheridan is blessed for daring to start telling this story, buried by the US and Canadian media… and entertainment industry. I pray for the souls of all Native brothers and sisters we have lost. The best revenge against the Christian tormentors I feel, is to revert back and find Native customs, culture and religions - embracing them with a vengeance. Coming back home, that is the what is owed to those who shall never return…. Many of them buried underground in front of Christian evangelical missions, never to be found.

I haven’t watched this and just discovered through the short scenes between the Natives and the nuns which will prompt me to watch just for this. As we are learning about the genocide of the indigenous Palestinians being wiped out by the zionist supremacist, we want to also learn more about the Native Americans and although it is grotesque to learn from movies but such ways have an exceptionally cathartic channel through such scripts and actors. Powerful. Thank you for bringing such horrors to light.

This was painful to watch, even more so because of an unlikely connection. I had several relatives who were major benefactors of these schools. As horrific as it was learning that truth, there was an almost infernal irony to it. At nearly the same time, on the other side of the world, I had great grandparents and other relatives who were teachers in the underground schools that kept the language and culture alive when the Nazi regime invaded their country. All countries invaded by the Nazis had to forgo their own language and speak only German and adopt German culture. Supposedly, it was for their benefit. Many of my relatives suffered cruel fates when discovered. I remember asking my family members who were benefactors of the "Indian Schools", wasn't it the same thing? Weren't we acting like the Nazi's in trying to destroy someone's culture?

The “assimilation” schools in “White Anglo Saxon PROTESTANT” America were exactly that, Protestant. The director is Protestant so he tried to paint this Vatican story in the middle of America in 1923, at that time Catholics were only on the east coast getting attacked for being Catholic. In canada, a more catholic nation, yes they had catholic boarding schools like the one in Calgary which the director said he was referencing. Except his show is about America, it’s very misleading.

If that’s what really happened there, then it is satanic. But I do not believe that you can say millions of nuns and priest were that way as in that place. Other wise we would have known. I went to a Catholic school run by nuns in Denver in the 1960’s. I would have seen some of that, especially in Denver when we had segregation, but not in the Catholic school.
