I had a cacao tree in my backyard. My mom used to roast the beans and made into a drink just like coffee.

The two shells you showed were old. You’ll have to open a fresh one and I promise you, its delicious! It’s actually one of my favorite snacks when I visit my grandparents. You should definitely try them when they’re fresh.
