How will Liz Truss tackle the climate crisis?

Although Liz Truss has pledged to stick to the legally binding target of net zero emissions by 2050, it's less clear how she plans to get there.

She says she'll do away with green levies on energy bills, take more oil and gas from the North Sea, and has appointed Jacob Rees-Mogg - who's dismissed what he calls climate “alarmism” - to the key brief of Business and Energy Secretary.

Why aren't solar panels obligatory on all new builds, council houses, warehouses and factories unstead of using up fields which should be growing food?

What people don't realise is that fracking will be done by private companies and they will be selling it on market price. So it won't make any difference at all on the energy price. It will only work if the state own the sites and use it only for our use then there is a benefit.

Some great videos on "Undecided with Matt Ferrell" & "Just have a think" with Dave Borlace on how well built and highly insulated homes (passive homes) can result in 90% energy savings. You've also got Photo voltaic, thermal (PVT) solar panels that yield 3..4 times the energy of just PV panels, as they also provide hot water (and cool the panels themselves). Combine very well insulated homes with PVT and you've got a net zero, energy free home. The technology is already here, the government won't force the standard nor will it offer to retrofit existing homes, in spite of record levels of taxation. Once again the British government (Labour or Conservative) is where it always is, on the back foot snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and having to pay absurd amounts of money (printing, borrowing and taxing) to keep the whole failed show on the road.

Put panels on every roof. It's unused space, saves people bills. Reduces pressure on the grid and people can sell that power back to the grid to make up more power on the grid. Give people a 50% discount on all Solar and Battery setups for their homes. People would do it.
