Liz Truss lays out plan to tackle cost of living crisis: Liz Truss said she would “immediately” reduce taxes and introduce a moratorium on the green energy levy in a bid to curb inflation in Northern Ireland, if elected. Speaking after a tour of Artemis Technologies in Belfast, Ms Truss moved to assure people that she would treat rising inflation as an “urgent issue” and ensure "it’s dealt with”.

She did not answer the question of how she will tackle inflation. Her tax reduction of £1 a month is not going to help. It is too insignificant. Obviously, she avoids all the questions because she has no answers.

The great thing about reducing taxes is that it’ll help me as a high earner more than someone on a low income who’s really struggling. Then the big society thing kicks in and it’s my choice whether or not to be charitable; maybe by throwing a multi pack of Skips crisps in a food bank crate in Waitrose to ease my conscience whilst enjoying more cash in my savings.
