🔶Thinset, Tools & First Rows 🔶

Definitely does as advertised....I've significantly cut down on wasting buckets!

For this entire bathroom I bought 5 bags 👍

Tub protection is important, these Oatey liners are convenient

You will have to check coverage to determine whether it will work or not

It's always good to have multiple sizes on hand

Leveling systems will help out a lot on keeping tiles aligned and even with one another
My favorite system of all time is Perfect Level Master

Super easy to use, can double up for areas needed, & they are reusable 👍

My favorite tile scraper 😄

Work the thinset into substrate with back side of trowel
This will ensure a good bond & better trowel lines when troweling thinset

Directionally trowel
This will allow the ridges to efficiently collapse when setting tiles
Collapsed ridges will result in better thinset coverage

I always back butter all tiles above a subway sized tile
This too ensures good coverage

Always periodically check a tile to see what kind of coverage you are getting

If you don't see thinset like this on back of your tile (or still see the ridges), use a bigger trowel or back trowel the tiles 👍

Every time I install the 8” hex stuff I make sure that the arrows on the back of the tile point the same direction. That way any calibration issues can be corrected consistently. 👍

I like your laser pole. Where did you get that?

Out of curiosity. How is your bucket liner holding up? I had a beast mixer for about 2 months but mortar started clinging to it. Laticrete 254 destroyed it

Is back buttering a good idea? Some people say yes, some don't. What's your opinion?

Have you considered a large format tile install. 2'x4' Seems to be all the rage for the McMansion crowd!

Question for anyone that may have an answer. I’m working with satori glazed ceramic tile and cannot figure out how to reduce the amount of micro chipping. I read that a glass cutting blade would help with that. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.
