TRIP REPORT | NEW EASYJET | Munich to Berlin Tegel | Empty Flight | Airbus A320

TRIP REPORT of the newly launched Easyjet flight from Munich to Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL). The budget Airline Easyjet had a base in Berlin SXF for several years but now also offers flights from Berlin TXL Airport in the heart of Berlin! Most of Easyjet's new routes from Berlin TXL were operated by Air Berlin before (including inner-german routes such as Munich, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Stuttgart; in Europe: Copenhagen, Paris, Stockholm, Palma Mallorca, Vienna, Zurich, Milan Malpensa, Rome and many more).
This flight was taken in January 2018 only 6 days after the service started. Consequently the aircraft was pretty empty with only 36 of 180 possible passengers onboard. My seat was 28F which i later changed to 17A. The service just like you know it from other Easyjet flights including hot meal service (needs to be purchased onboard) even though the flight time from Munich to Berlin is just about 50 minutes. All in all the flight was very good and we even arrived 20 minutes early in Berlin! As of now Easyjet is competing with Lufthansa on this route, offering up to 8 daily flights between Berlin TXL and Munich (MUC).

In May 2020 from TXL I took the TXL-Bus to the Berlin Main-Station (Hbf) and from there I took the local "S-Bahn" train to Schönefeld. I think from there a regular Shuttle-Bus service brings me to the ILA. In the evening I travel back to Tegel-Airport, enjoy an overnight-stay at the Sheraton Berlin-Tegel airport and before I fly back home to DUS the next evening I plan a plane-spotting day at TXL. The Observation Deck is big and the planes parked near you.

YEAH!! Definetely everytime I deeply enjoy it to fly with "easyJet" (easyJet Europe). In DUS too always EZY (EJU) uses jetbrigdes at it, s B-councourse. Definely I prefer the brandnew seats. Perhaps they are a little bit thinner and smaller too but in my own opinion more stylish and comfy. In May 2020 I travel with "EJU" from DUS to TXL to visit the ILA 2020 in or near Schönefeld Airport (Berlin Expo Center). I have reserved me a window seat in row 17 for free too. In the back of the aircraft you can pre-select seats for free. While when you wish a seat in the front of the plane, you must pay. But I for myself find this a fair play. Behind the wings you have a very good view too. To be honest I am not this focussed on a special seat onboard. BUT NETHERELSES it should be a WINDOW-seat.

I took the flight from Vienna to TXL and back yesterday. The flight to Berlin on the WDL Aviation BAe 146 (10:40 am) was almost full, the flight back (9:15 pm) was about half full - I think I heard them talk about 48 passengers.

There are people out in the world that do complain a lot about the services provided by ULCCs, but in the end, these carriers usually have full flights. Spirit Airlines for example, is the world leader in customer complaints yet manage to have full flights.

Great report as always. I take it the absence of passengers is that it is not widely known that Easy Jet are operating from Tegel?

In the US, every airline uses jetbridges at most airports, even CRJ's have them at PHX, most turboprops do not though
