I thought N. meningitides was the bacterium and meningococcal was the 'shorthand', just like 'pneumococcus' is shorthand for Streptococcus pneumoniae.

Can it be recurring? Like say you get a rash that turns into big half dollar sized blisters then open sores, and goes away, don't think anything of it, then two years later, same thing, in the same spots on the body....go thru it again, then 3-4 years later, bam again...and even one day, you wake up and can't walk, legit, can't walk...hospital and doctors thought it was MRSA another thought Fixed Drug Eruptions, but the other symptoms are always there too, not to mention an ear infection that has lasted years, and the ear nose and throat doctor just can't figure it out.
