Hi, I worked at Hawker Siddeley Hatfield in the early to mid 70’s. As an apprentice, I was seconded to various departments. One was producing maintenance manuals for the A300. My first flight in an A300 was in Australia from Brisbane to Sydney in March 1985. I got a cockpit visit on this flight which was fantastic. Happy memories. Nick Fry

The softest landing I've ever had was in an Eastern Airlines A300. It landed so perfect that the plane didn't even bump or shake or anything at all. It was like it just kissed the ground. What an incredible plane, and I'm a huge Boeing fan.

If you're a true aviation geek, you wouldn't pick Airbus or Boeing. Both are amazing companies with great products.

My father was the regional sales director of the A300 for the Far east and made some of their first sales to THAI air and much of my childhood was watching these being tested at the Toulouse facility, the orange livery brings back many memories ! so thanks for making this video :) It is like a tribute to him as he died in a plane crash while on a sales trip in Malaysia for Airbus.

Most engine variants on the A300B4 were the General Electric CF6 even though Pratt and Whitney had variants for the Airbus a great aeroplane that I flew on in 1988 to Lanzarote

A300 changed everything. Caught Boeing off guard, so they had to quickly develop the 767 to compete.

I truly believe the A-300 is the MOST BEAUTIFUL LOOKING airliner in history.

Competitions only benefit the consumers. Glad Airbus was born.

Was lucky to fly one of Lufthansa's A300s (D-AIAT named Bottrop) in 2008 before they went out of service. Barcelona to Frankfurt route.

The first time I flew on an Airbus, and I think it would have to have been an A300, was in the late 1970s to early 1980s. I was heavily into A-Class catamaran development and we were working on fences to reduce tip vortex drag. Friends were working on C-Class catamarans with solid, multi-section wing-sails. They had leading edge slats and advanced design flaps. The slots between the elements of the wing could be adjusted for maximum lift with minimum drag. I was very interested to notice that the A300 had copied all of those elements from us :-) I'm kidding, but they had the wingtip fences that Boeing invented about 15 to 20 years later. The leading edge slats looked pretty good. I also noticed that the flaps didn't work like conventional wing flaps. Instead of dropping down from a pivot point near the trailing edge of the wing, they had a mechanism that seemed to allow the pivot point to move down and forward and it looked like the flaps didn't go down more than about 5 degrees. There was no internet then, so I couldn't look it up and have fun wading though hundreds of links to rubbish and nonsense. However, I do remember reading an article in an aviation magazine that described the wing as the most advanced ever made for a civilian plane.

The A300's all had a Flight Engineer. The only models that didn't were the A310 and the A300-600 and a few A300-B4FFCC (Forward Facing Crew Concept).

In 1968, Great Britain, France and (at that time) West Germany entered an agreement to develop and produce a commercial airliner to compete with the Boeing 747. In 1969, Great Britain dropped out of the agreement. In 1970, France and West Germany created the corporation "AirBus".
The rest is commercial aviation history.

On the positive side, Airbus with its A300 has pioneered the winning formula of the high-bypass two-engine turbofan jetliner which is now the rule for both narrow- and wide-body aircrafts.

On the negative side, all planes has since became more and more omologated and similar one to each other...

The A300B1/2, and the vast majority of the B4s required a Flight Engineer. It was not until the introduction of the -600 that the Flight Engineer was truly eliminated.

IranAir was the first middle eastern client for the Airbus A300 and still using them. Thanks for the video

This is a rare treat! It combines my thirst for knowledge and sense of humour! Rarely do they appear together! Very nicely done. The extra footage and barely related clips make this video very entertaining!

I loved the A300B4 it was the first none Boeing jet I flew and was very overpowered and a great performer. We had to be gentle on those big engines and let them cool before shut down.
My last flight before retiring from flying was in a A300.
