Kobe Bryant death: NTSB and authorities provide update on helicopter crash

Officials with the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board and local authorities provided an update on the investigation into the helicopter crash outside Los Angeles that killed NBA superstar Kobe Bryant and eight other people.

NTSB officials provided “factual information” about the flight plan from the helicopter that crashed on Sunday near Los Angeles.

NTSB also provided details about the crash debris field and information about the pilot's record.

L.A. County Sheriff's dept. also spoke about protecting the crash scene and meeting with the victims' families.

Not a perfect comparison to rotor craft, but the average fixed wing VFR /Visual Flight Rules pilot ( no Instrument rating) crashes in under 3 minutes
... after entering IMC (Instrument Meteorological real life, and in simulator results.

Another RIP.... JFK Jr in 1999 flew a perfectly good aircraft into water due to spatial was not an Instrument rated pilot

How many seats did this helicopter have? Seems like a lot of passengers. How high was that hill? Also looking at and listening to the pilot recording, seems the pilot made a sharp turn at the end - he sounded helpless as he waited out the holding. Errors were made but nothing we can do now. Tragic on so many levels. RIP Kobe, Gianna and their friends that perished with them.

They where advised not to fly because f foggy bad weather. I guess Kobe didn't want the daughter and her teammates to miss their game hence he pressured the pilot to fly. RIP to them but people, it's better to be late (not dead) than sorry, they should have just commuted by road even though they may have arrived late

Such a terrible tragedy. I think helicopters are way too unsafe to travel in. I can see them used in war and medical emergencies but nothing else. I rode in one once and will never again.
