This scene is 100% historically accurate.

The funniest thing about this scene to me is the absolute lack of dialogue. Brian just sits in the back of the spaceship with no context and holds on for dear life. The faces he makes while the ship is going down are tremendous too

If ever there was a wtf moment in the movies that was it.

I can just imagine that after test screenings the Pythons asked the audience how the film could be improved and someone answered "needs more explosive space dogfight scenes".

The fact that this feels so out of place makes it even funnier. I completely did not expect it the first time I watched it and laughed at how ridiculous this was

If I remember correctly, this scene came about because the Pythons didn't know how to feasibly get Brian down so they opted for this.

Warner Brothers will be mad you uploaded an entire scene from Dune 2 while its still in theaters.

Quite possibly the funniest scene in a movie I will ever see. I remember when I watched this with my dad, I laughed so hard I was practically screaming and hitting myself like a slapstick cartoon character. It was just so hilariously absurd and unexpected.

Watched it in school for an English lesson and just burst out laughing at this!. It’s just so random which is what makes it even more hilarious and the “You lucky bastard” line to top it all off 🤣🤣🤣

Watched this for the first time at a sleepover 25 years ago, probably the hardest I'll laugh in my entire life.

Greatest non sequitur in the history of cinema.

Brian: former messiah and first human astronaut.

The sheer ridiculousness of this combined with the running short theme in the movie of "you lucky bastard" just makes this clip all the more hilarious.

He escapes the Romans and goes through all that in space and survives the crash, all of which is extremely lucky, only to be unlucky in that he ends up just a few steps ahead of the Romans.

This is by far the biggest WTF scene in movie history.

I howled with laughter the first time I saw this! A manual transmission space ship! Perfect!

I like the small moments of extras doing pointless tasks in the background of these movies. There's this guy hammering at nothing on the top of the building, and in Holy Grail there's a peasant repeatedly slapping a riverbed with a piece of wood.

They put that scene because of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Douglas Adams was working with them on flying circus and holy grail. This scene is about The Infinite Improbability. They didn't know how to save him from fall and used solution from his book which also came out in 1979.

Just imagine that those aliens are real, and they allready had that kind of technology in 33 A.D. Then imagine what their technology would be nowadays. If they had declared war, we all would be dead
