If you want robots modeled after arthropods to work, all you have to do is use only a motor that contracts each joint, and none that extend it. Spiders rely on blood pressure to extend their legs, they only have muscles that draw them in. By using either a spring or piston system to extend the legs when the motor that contracts them is released, you’ll be able to properly create appendages that actually work with a walking program
