Do I want to move to New York? No. But I’m here to see Chelsea.

As a born & raised NY'er who will probably grow old here; my advice for anyone that decides to move here is to save as much money as you can and have a back-up plan. This is a fast-paced city and competition is everywhere in every industry. Come here with a logical sense on what YOU have to offer whether it be a content creator, administrative, teacher, your own boss, etc. Try to grow some thick skin. This city is not for the weak as any other big city area. There are nice NY'ers here, but at the end of the day; we all just trying to survive & make it here. There may be rejection; but don't lose hope. Times have certainly changed. As the saying goes; "if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere". Good luck to y'all <3

"...and recognize your absence" that is so true. Someone - even a stranger - who looks for you and misses you when you don't pop up during their normal routine, is really important.

As a native New Yorker, I really enjoy your videos. I especially like your tips for supporting local businesses. Gentrification is an issue. It's nice that you appreciate the people who are trying to stay here.

From a Brooklyn born guy now 40 something. You’re a New Yorker. And that advice about having people who will notice your absence is gold. Love your vibe ❤

Chelsea — I’m moving to nyc TODAY and while I’m getting ready to go to the airport I watched this video. This gave me such a reassurance I didn’t know I needed as I start this next chapter. Love your content so much, thank you for being you!!

Chelsea I just want to say you are such a hard worker!! I feel like most youtubers would just sit in one spot in their bedroom to talk through this topic (no shame in that!) but the fact that you changed up your location a million times to make this vid way higher quality and more engaging/dynamic...we don't deserve you! you better be getting some good partnership deals haha

I’ve been watching your channel for about a year now, off and on but your recent videos have found a place in my routine and I couldn’t be happier. Keep up the great content and keep being you!

transplant of almost 12 years here. i've loved it here for the most part even though it has not been easy sometimes. new york is tough and it can feel as if it's chewing you up but once you find your rhythm it can be fun. this city moves fast, you have to catch up. i recommend going away every so often just to reboot. chelsea, i think your assessment of it was very objective. at the end everything is a trial in life and if you don't like it, you can always move on to the next city, country, or continent.

Love, love, love this video, Chelsea! Thanks for sharing. 🖤 Several people asked us why we moved to NYC when we work from home full-time. They were like, "You could have moved anywhere else!" -- but NYC feels home to me/us. It's not an easy place to live in, but it has encouraged us to be more grateful... To enjoy the little things... To build our own chosen family who will understand the struggles and will help you along the way (in their own special way).

Really love this new direction of speaking at different locations around the city. Also have to say how much I love and appreciate the way you use your platform to talk about the importance of supporting marginalized communities and businesses, undoing some negative stereotypes about NYC, and encouraging ppl to be good humans. Love your content!

I have watched all of your previous videos on this topic and I get closer every year to finally moving to NYC. I always find these to be so helpful.

Chelsea, I've been watching you off and on for a few months now and even though I'm an 80 year old female, not planning on moving to New York City (or anywhere else, for that matter) I couldn't stop watching this particular episode. I truly think it will help people to decide on whether a move there is right for them or not because you've really given them so much information! Anyway, I'm not sure if I've ever commented before, but I decided I'd give you my two cents tonight. Good work! Keep warm, lady!

THIS IS HOW YOU INFORM!!! 💯 I absolutely love how you’re giving transplants real information about where they are moving to.

I’m in PA not far from NYC. And we’re effected by what happens there with population growth because people leave the city and move here and just travel for work. So we’re having to keep up with what’s happening there, Jersey city etc. An it’s sad to watch the effects rolling down while so many are still trying to move their without intentions on actually even participating in the city outside of saying “ I moved to NY “.
Doing the good work 🎉

Chelsea!! You being realistic about New York got me wanting to move more. I lived in other bigger cities and like you mention moving to New York you have a dream to fulfill or finding a community or know your WHY. Honestly I prefer that it’s different. I love this video! ❤

I always look forward to these types of videos but considering this how I found your channel in the first place, I am very pumped to see the 2024 update. It has been my dream for over two decades to move to NYC and as you mentioned, so many people don't understand why I want to live there. I've stopped trying to tell them why or sell them on the city because it is not for everyone. There is so much magic and energy there that is intoxicating. So much to do. So much to see. I just want to go and say I tried. If I fail, I tried. Thank you for these videos and all your content. Here's to goals, dreams, and NYC.

It's exactly the same in London. Speaking as a self-employed man (trade) who moved to the capital from the countryside seven years ago the grind can be terrifying, but convince me you felt more alive back home when the going got tough.

Very sweet of you to take the time to share your wisdom and experience with others. I have visited New York a couple of times just as a tourist. I fantasize about coming for one year, just so I can experience all four seasons. I love watching your videos! Love from Texas ❤
