Actually "Dracula" (How English say) was Vlad Țepeș and "Dracula's castle" which is actually the Bran Castle!
And Vlad Țepeș only slept a few nights while he was traveling trough the country, that's the only thing that leads Vlad Țepeș to the Bran Castle! And, he ruled Wallachia, not a region of Transylvania! Wallachia was a separate state!

Also another cool story it is said that in the times of Vlad the Impaler, people were so afraid of him that he left a gold cup on a well for people to drink from and nobody stole it(I'm not sure if it's true but it could be)

Elizabeth Bathory was also an inspiration to Bram when he was researching for the novel. She supposedly tortured her handmaiden and would cut them to get their blood to bathe in. It was rumored that she thought bathing in blood would keep her young looking. She was tried and found guilty. Her punishment was to be locked up in a tower for the rest of her life. I think she finally went insane.

Wallachia, not Transylvania, Transylvania was a part of Hungary at the time. While Wallachia was a wholly separate and independent kingdom at odds with Hungary

The story goes that when his beloved wife was killed by the Ottoman Turks, Vlad cursed God for allowing her murder, and was doomed to walk the Earth for eternity, unable to be loved, enjoy life. Food and drinks would never quench his hunger and thirst, and would never be permitted to die and enter God's Kingdom.

Fun Fact 1: Vlad the 3rd drank his victims blood and would eat lunch while watching his victims get impaled

Fun Fact 2: Vlad’s favorite way to impale ppl is to impale them through their ass as they slowly slide down the pole in agony

Fun Fact 3: Vlad was beheaded at a lake and that lack doesn’t dry out

Fun Fact 4: The lake that Vlad was beheaded at doesn’t run unlike any other lake

Hope u had a shit time learning this 😊

He was a feared ruler . But also as a result of his savage nature, he was able to strike fear into the hearts of the Ottomans. Suleiman didn’t fear him, and it irritated Vlad, he wanted to strike fear and savage nature into those who would not be subject to him . Even his own brother.

I read somewhere that dracula actually wasnt based on vlad the impaler, bram stoker just breifly read some history and saw the name and thought it sounded cool but he never knew about vlad the impaler, thats apparently a common misconception, at least thats what wikipedia says on the novel so whether its true or not who knows.
