What fascinates you most about the history of Vlad the Impaler?

Anyone notice that they spent the majority of their "castle" film in one little stairway/hallway? That's because it's literally the only hallway in the entire castle that looks creepy. They have to sensationalize it and go with the dracula theme. The actual castle/city/grounds are absolutely beautiful. Well furnished and basically just a normal castle.

Not to say Vlad III didn't have a fierce reputation for ruthlessness, I can't help but feel like some of this is a bit exaggerated for the show. For example, "Drăculea" means "Son of the Dragon" and not of the Devil. Vlad II was a member of the chivalric Order of the Dragon, which is how he earned his nickname, "Dracul".

The devil works hard but Vlad works harder.

"His hatred had grown so virulent that we still make TV shows about him 600 years later"
Sounds about right

It's true, they did not find Dracula's body under the place he was said to be buried in. Theories suggest that his head was sent to the Ottoman Sultan, his actual body buried somewhere in Italy. Also Bran Castle merely has tangents with Dracula. His actual main fortress was Poenari castle. Sorry NatGeo... this is less facts and more fake-information to make it seem more scary.

Guys they delete comments from Romanians that prove that what they say it’s wrong 😑.

The real castle/abode of Vlad is in Poenari, not in Bran castle shown on this "document"...

Apparently i'm being censored on my main account...nice. Romanian here from Brasov(check google maps) historians say this and i quote" Not only was he not the owner of the Bran Castle, but it is unclear whether he ever even set foot there." + there are no historical records of any curse of Vlad. Also keep in mind that his head was send to Turkey as a proof of his death. Please stop mocking and spreading lies about our rules. F you Nat geo for trying to spread lies regarding our history without doing any investigation or talking to any historian. Vlad was, is and will remain a national here here. Cheers.

A lot of false information here! Starting with the castle, , , Vlad III never lived in Bran castle! He
Lived parts of he’s life in Poenari castle in Arefu!

No amount of over-dramatizing or sensationalizing is too much when it comes to Vlad the Impaler.

Wasn't him actually from Wallachia instead of Transylvania?

National geographic should be ashamed of themselves for this false information

Dracula's name means Son of the Dragon, his Father is Vlad II Dracul (the dragon), it's not Son of the devil.
