After the massive amount of messages on social media and a successful collaboration with the guys from AIRLINE VIDEOS who allowed to use their video, here you have the ATC from the Lufthansa hard landing at LAX a few days ago. Not too much, but enough to hear the humble voice of the trainee pilot after his bounced landing. Go for it, dude. Better next time!

The pilot did the right thing and made no excuses. He hit hard and put it back up in the air. Good decision making after a clear mistake. And he owned it. I respect honesty.

If you're reading this, Lufthansa guy...don't let this little mistake get on your way! 😎💪🏾

How I imagine it went in the pilot's head:
Departure: What was the reason for the go around?
Lufthansa: It was me, it was my fault
Departure: Sorry, I didn't get that
Lufthansa: Please don't make me say it again...
Approach: What was the reason for that missed approach?
Lufthansa: Oh come on!

Hi Everyone. I was on this flight. I was sitting in Economy Class, it was a very hard landing indeed. I did not see anyone bounce out of their seats, but many people who did not hold thier phones and ipads tightly, well they went flying in the air. A few of the overhead bins opened up as well. Yes old ladies were screaming. The best part was the engines reving up for the climb out.

“What was the reason for the go around?”

“I dont want to talk about it…”

This pilot will be a great pilot. Owned his mistake. Didn't look for excuses. Dusted himself off and tried again. Kudos sir! 👌

I had over 21, 000 hours in the 747-422. I can attest I have made a few, well, too many bad landings, and few which required a go around. That approach looked ok in the clip, until the late flare, and maybe a bit fast. He bounced, and almost got the nose gear. BUT, the pilot flying did the absolute correct fix. He had flying speed, and took it around. He came back in a second time, and landed successfully. Absolutely nothing to criticize here. We've all done it, or you're lying if all those landings were perfect.

This is the type of thing that has to make you respect the amount of engineering that goes into modern airplanes. The stress on the struts, wheels, tires... everything just in the gear... amazing. Glad they were able to make it on the 2nd attempt! No bad feelings for the pilot, this is one he'll never forget and hopefully learn from and look back at in the future and think "whoa, rookie!" All good from here onwards!

Aviation is not mistake-free field. What I like about this is there's no drama, the pilot just admitted his honest mistake. Don't worry man, you'll get it next time.

This video has it all! Beautiful Lufthansa 747-800 coming into LAX in perfect focus. Then the goofiest bounce landing ever recorded. The simultaneous commentary "oh, oH, OH, HOLY MOLY GOO--ING AROUND -- that was the roughest landing I think we've ever caught!" Then the Jet Blue pilot laughing. Then the pilot humbly admitting his landing sucked. And then, hilariously, being asked 5 different times why he's going around. And lastly, punks like me all over the world, sitting in our underwear and judging your work performance.... LOL Hilarious! Poor Lufthansa pilot... you gotta know this video is on continuous loop in their Frankfurt lunchroom. It's ok Lufthansa guy.... we all have bad days, and you demonstrated your ability to quickly salvage the situation. I love the fact you owned it, and I wish you a long, successful career...

Glad that both aircraft and pax did not take any damage - I flew on that airframe on April 9th from FRA to MIA, it's the 1500th 747 ever produced :)

We’ve all done it. Every pilot has a few of these in their highlight reels of the career.

Best thing you can do is learn from it, put it behind you and move forward.

It’s bad enough every passenger is witness to a bad landing, this poor guy has his splashed on the internet.
