great value and great space saver, my weights used to take up a whole gazebo. The wobblyness is a worry, and the plastic was a chew toy for my brothers pittbull, but he didnt do too much damage.

Looking on purchasing a set w/ the stand...waiting on the holiday price drop...$400 + for combo is too expensive imo.

I've had a set of the 552 since 2008. I've used them 3-4 days a week since then. The main difference is the tab holding the weights on used to be moulded plastic, now it's metal. I'm toying with getting a new set.

On one handle the selector dial is hard to turn. It works ok if I press down hard to engage the release but it's annoying to have to do it. The other handle works fine.

On both handles the third plate in will slip off. There's a bit too much flex in the mechanism and the plastic tab disengages and the weight falls out. I have fixed it by taping a spacer on the back of the weight plate. It doesn't happen with any other plates and it's a little bit sporadic. It can be fine for days/weeks on end then "boom" a weight falls on the floor. No toes have been damaged yet

So everything works, more or less, but working around the problems detracts from the pleasure of working out. Given I use them almost every day I think I deserve a new set. I have looked at alternative brands and nothing seems to offer any benefits in terms of price and usability. There are cheap copies available but I want an improvement in quality and durability.

I’ve had these for 5 yrs or so. Haven’t used them much unfortunately, but from when I have used thematic hey are great. They can be a bit bulky

I had them and they're good but there's nothing better than a set of Rogue dumbells if you have the space for them with the rack.

How do you carry these around? Do you just have to hold the base and dumbell separately?

nah not for me who slams weights on the floor! also i doubt all dumbbell exercises are possible with this > Looks big and clunky! Thanks for review > I got see in hand feel and dont like it!

Bowflex SelectTech 552i is too small. It won't be long before they are not heavy enough.
The 1090i, with a weight of up to 41 kg, is perfect, had it not been for the big jumps (4-7, 11-13, 13-16, etc.).

And then I can imagine it's a problem to get room for both when you do chest pulls.

I buy something else.
