They lied when everyone was watching and now they tell the truth when not even half are paying attention that’s the point

Once the doctor said "optimal treatment of optimal patients at highest tiers", I knew the 35% improvement was BS. When you have to add that many specifics to allow you to claim 35%, something is wrong.

It is entirely possible (if unlikely) that if a randomised controlled trial of convalescent plasma was done, it would show that those who received a placebo did better than those who received the plasma. That is why such a trial must be done before you can say if it is beneficial

I have a great aunt who underwent convalescent plasma treatment for an unrelated illness a year ago. The final bill for just the plasma treatment was $11750. Not necessarily an affordable alternative.

The whole point of a late stage clinical trial is to show the drug/treatment's efficacy, safety, and effectiveness. Trump may be cheering, but as a person who worked in the Biotech industry for decades, this is a very big risk

If you ever want to see what severe desperation looks like, look at the RNC.

I wish someone would explain the why or how behind the headline: "Trump signs allowing plasma as a treatment". I still don't understand why Trump would have any involvement in nor the ability to approve any specific medical treatment.

One of things being missed is that this treatment is reliant on another person donating. There is not just one antibody, there are thousands of different types created by peoples' different bodies producing randomizing proteins to find a solution, some are effective some are not. One great outcome tells nothing about the next since each plasma donation is different. Imagine if you got a bottle of meds and it was randomly filled with pills of different strength or no strength.

That is how a doctor is supposed to talk. Dr. Gupta explained the HK case very well. Great job.

No reputable doctor would say anything works without the proper testing. So the guy is a fool or has been pressured. It’s one of those two and neither is good.

Convalescent plasma works as an emergency therapy, it's used in Italy since some months, the difficulty is that only 30% of the cured people fulfill the conditions to be a donor.

I was infected late March and will probably be infected again as an essential employee surrounded by many people. I give plasma now, I hope it helps people.

Thank you dr Gupta for clarifying this

The FDA have seriously dropped the ball on this . There are methods for digging into the data to extract those who had ancillary medication and determine if there are any statistical combinatoral benefits - it seems 80% taking either of two drugs

How can you give an honest case study if subjects use multiple drugs for the same ailment? Maybe a cocktail study?
